ive been using an antelope for about a year. the sound is good. the i/o is great. the software is meh. support is ok. their online presence on the other site has some drama around it. speculation of phony accounts etc... not sure i would buy again but i think one benefit to their onslaught of products is that it may cause some of the other brands to consider more feature-packed products. I've never seen a company guerrilla market so hard on an online forum before. It's ridiculous. I definitely think they're pushing the entry level market to include DSP in their interfaces, which is welcome right now, but looking at the power of recent processors and the emergence of Thunderbolt etc. I can't imagine it's too long before Native performance starts to overshadow it, so we'll see how much of an advantage these platforms are. I can hear 2 ms round trip latency etc with guitar plugins or whatever, so I still think there is something to the Apollo/UAD DSP "real time" thing, for me. However, it almost doesn't matter, since the plugins are all first party and very limited. So I'm not sure.

However, it almost doesn't matter, since the plugins are all first party and very limited. So I'm not sure. My thought process is even "cheap" USB interfaces are hitting sub 4ms RTL today, so as TB3/USB 3.1 become standard I think < 2ms is an achievable baseline. At that point, the question becomes do you want to record in real time with underpowered chips and restricted plugin selection vs. < 2ms with a lot of power and access to more plugs... I'm not sure the cost/benefit is there for 99% of folks to invest in an underpowered ecosystem. And for those who can detect really low latencies, I'd imagine a lot of them would refuse to track ITB for other reasons, anyway... FWIW I kind of wish I had gotten into the whole UAD thing a few years ago because it was quite justifiable. Now I can't bring myself to do it because it's just too expensive for what it is, but there's no denying they've got some cool stuff.

If this doesnโt make you go hmmmmm, I donโt know what will ๐ Some good info between the blatant paid ad ๐
I believe He def uses the Eclipse to monitor and the clocks you can tell by the way he talks fluidly about them relating quick experiences from memory. We all know what his main studio rooms looks like ๐ค ๐คค Crazy HW Racks, Big SSL etc IDK but this vid kinda rubs me the wrong way...
โ I use a whole lot of Antelope stuff on my records ..... and it sound good ๐ โ โ I even use their plugins โ
Which Antelope From day one has said they ARE NOT plugins but hardware fx...
I have no problem with paid ads and Slate marketing rarely ever bothers me so Itโs not the ad itself... Before 2 mins in he claims to own Eclipse, 10mx, The Trinity, Pure 2, & 2 Orion HDโs ( but only uses these for plugins oops I mean Antelope hardware fx )
He then says he upgraded specifically to the new Orion HD to use the plugins because the original doesnโt sync as a Pro Tools HW insert causing phasing and timing issues I.e.. He prob never used them ( conversion only probably did use )
Michael Brauer has walls of Hardware and needs it to be integrated perfectly into Pro Tools HD.. until the HD interfaces Antelope HW was not able to be sample accurate regarding HW inserts )

I have heard first hand from salespeople that customers have returned their products due to significant problems with drivers: try before you buy ! Had a Goliath HD here, this thing was a no go! TB and USB 3 drivers are the absolute worst! Did not work through digilink either. After a week sent it back and got my money back, lesson learned.

I got as far as "I'm an Antelope user... pretty much every day." (Gives a little look to camera. Jump cut.)
I really want to like Antelope as a company, but everything they do is so greasy.
Thanks for the welcome, Martin!
