What’s the deal with the mix with the masters stuff? Is it on the floor or in one of the rooms downstairs? I’d love to catch the Tchad Blake talk on Friday if I can make it.

It's a little weird there because it's wide open in the middle of the convention floor. So you're standing up and distracted by all the people and noise around. if you can grab one of the few seats up front and wait, it would be great to hear from some of the amazing engineers there. I'll try to take more photos today, I wasn't able to stay long yesterday.
Here's me with Jamie Tate from the Ruckus Room. Jamie met with Geoff Emerick, Andy Wallace, JJ Puig, Jack Douglass, Chris Lord Alge, Neil Dorfsman and others. How about that! It's worth the trip here just for the wonderful people you meet, the gear is a bonus.

Here are a few shots:
CLA, Genelec was doing surround sound,. I noticed the pop filter on the MXL is like the one you see on Neumann mics when the Beatles were doing vocals.
I asked if they were sold separately, and they said no. I said "why not". That pop filter is a minimalist design, very attractive looking, small footprint, and would fly off the shelves at $25. The reps were serious qbout seeing if they could get this done.
The Amphion 18's were very good sounding.

My pleasure Chase. The Blue pop filter has a big Blue label though. I really wouldn’t want to see that on another brand mic.

I was only able to be there for 30 mins before everybody started wrapping up.
I’ve been dead set on getting a set of barefoot footprints. Heard the amphions for the first time yesterday and now I don’t know what to do. I’m going to have to get them side by side at some point to make a proper decision.
Side note - is there a reason that any time you want to listen to speakers at a trade show they only have a small limited selection of music that I’ve never heard before? It’s always some obscure tracks. How is anybody supposed to really gauge anything with that program material? Why not have 5 modern pop songs, 3 hit rock songs from each decade of music, some Steely Dan, and some modern hip hop stuff?
I ran into this for the last show when I was listening to the ocean way monitors in Allen’s room. Play something we know!!

Let me know if you have any questions or want mixes/ masters from my previous monitors to compare against the FP01 mixes.. I wrote some good info regarding the difference for me between my old monitors and these. If you want, I could pm or copy the posts over here. I did have problems with mine at first. The protection circuit ( dsp limiters ) we’re kicking in way too soon. FE: On Mastered material that is not clipping the protection circuits were engaged on pre chorus/ intro vocals ( without kicks or bass ).. Barefoot paid to overnight them back and made everything right even though Thomas didn’t quite tell me the issues, I was able to glean they were not performing as designed and now they are. I also have the Sound Anchor stands Barefoot designer for the FP01 and unfortunately, regardless of Vintage King lies about to get a sale, they do resonate some. These monitors can do it all and the meme is very useful for me. It’s like a whole new view into the mix, and to me the resolution does change with each emulation. The cube and old school are awesome! This is all my experience with my monitors in my room, you may have different results. Take care.

I’ve heard them in 2 different rooms and they sounded drastically different in both of them. I wasn’t ready for how pushed and detailed the midrange was. Really interesting. And they go down so low that I’d have no need for a sub. The detail in the bottom end was really nice / not that mushed our bottom where you can really tell what’s going on down there. I’d love to have them side by side with the Amphions to compare in the same room but haven’t yet found anywhere that has a setup where I can do that.

I guess since my Yamaha HS8 were so forward and bright I feel the FP01 mods are very nice almost relaxed to me lol.. I agree that the detail is wonderful in the mids and the lows are clear, clean, and thump. Very accurate and have cut my Mix time wayyyy down and revisions have been dam near non existent! Hope you get to demo them side by side. I purchased the FP01 without hearing them and I am really pleased and will only grow with them.
