• Tab Funkenwerk V72S - I bought the V78M per @vincent's recommendations and experience. I like it better than the V72S. Slightly different. More versatile.
• Pair of DBX 560a's - Just like the tone/feel of my DBX 118 even better (the Revive Audio version).
• Brent Averill Vintage API 312 (1970's) 500 series mic pre - API... tried it. Not my thing. Love my Heritage Audio, Chandler Limited TG2, TAB v78, Avalon 2022, and Dizengoff DA2 & D4s even more.
• Acme Audio Motown Tube Mic Pre - Cool 1960's looking lunch box. I had one of the first 25. Liked the sound. Just wasn't cool enough for me to have $2000 tied up in 1 channel.
• Handsome Audio Zulu - Cool looking box! I liked the tone but didn't hang onto it long enough to get the most out of it. Ended up with a pair of much simpler to use Rupert Neve Designs 542's. (not the same tone at all, though easier for me to wrap my mind around).
• Stam Audio SA-2A - Bought the AudioScape Opto Comp. liked the tone better. To my ears AudioScape's box is less razor-like and more smooth/creamy (plus... love the R37 dial on the front panel).

I sent my only SM57 to some friends in a band in the UK this week. Had it a decade and hardly been used, they will make much better use of it than me, for recording and live.

What mics are you chasing ? I was thinking of selling off some. Have a nice rca 77dx. While a 77DX would be nice (banjo players love them) that’s a bit far down the list for me. I think next on my radar is a Flea 47 or Bock 407...

The SM57 is the ultimate "friends in a band" mic. In my own young experience, and in the raving praise I've heard from more novice friends of mine. I guess it just works.

My SM81's went off this week along with a Cloudlifter CL-2 and an orphaned 2001 Strat neck.
Cleaning house a bit and hadn't been using any of them for awhile. I will miss the SM81's though...

Digi 003... Friend said he was going to buy some cheap POS interface to replace his old Mbox Pro.
Got him on the 003 instead. Did a lot of decent work on that interface. Glad to see someone using it.

Let the single Sennheiser MKH 20 I had already go to a friend, as I came across a sequential serial # pair of MKH 20's in great shape, couldn't pass'em.
Oh yeah, gave away a super ugly and cracked Sennheiser K3U / ME80 shotgun, still worked so hopefully some good karma there. Was really tempted to toss it in the trash.

Sytek MPX-4Aii. I just haven't used it in a long time and I could use some debt relief from other recent purchases.

Fun thread. I hadn’t seen this one before. I’ll play.
I made a decision toward the beginning of the year and decided I didn’t want any gear around that I would hesitate to use in a pinch. I know that sounds weird, but I started shedding all of the pieces in my studio that if I had a big session coming up I’d go out if my way to borrow something from someone else rather than use it. I also got rid of a few things I actually really liked in favor of a few more important pieces.
-BLUE Bottle Rocket Stage 1, SSL Alpha Channel, Neumann TLM 170. I got a great deal on a demo model of a FleA 49 which would give me a pair of them. I couldn’t pass it up. I really didn’t want to sell the TLM170, but it gave the most bang for the buck of the group. I enjoyed the SSL Alpha Channel, but I’m going to go with the 500 series SSL stuff down the road. The BLUE Stage 1 was a shitty mic. I had two, an original made in Europe and a new one made in China. They didn’t match each other in out put, which made stereo pairing them a pain and both just seemed dull and 2D.
-BLUE Bottle Rocket Stage 1 Mic Locker Set, extra B4 Capsule. I actually kept the B0, B6, and B7 caps from the mic locker to use with my Bottle Rocket Stage 2, but sold off the mic with the case. I also sold my extra B4 Cap. Hoping to roll the money into another MK67 kit that I want to mod with the Neumann BV12 I already picked up. We’ll see what happens. I’m waiting for Max’s next run and bills are piling up. Lol.

D112.
I got an e602 and probably will never use another bass drum mic again.

I actually sold my 421s a while back. They went to my old intern, so if I really need them, I can rent or borrow.

Line Audio CM3 (pair). I bought a pair of CM4 and prefer the better off-axis rejection.
The CM3s went FAST -- for only 20% less than I paid for them. Dude took care of fees and shipping too.

I think next on my radar is a Flea 47 or Bock 407... A 77 on a banjo always sounds like (to me) someone talking through their teeth clenched. One of the more dull 414 variants works better IMHO. Anyhow, sorry for the derailment. I haven't got any 'losses' to add to this conversation . . . oh wait, parted with a Korean neck through body telecaster yesterday. Really didn't need it.

RCA 77 was what Earl Scruggs used, and there are banjo players that want to do whatever Earl did.
I’m going to trade a set of Slingerlands for a matched pair of Samar VL37’s. I think it’s a fair trade...sort of feel like I might regret it...but silver sparkle Slingerlands aren’t that rare and I was blown away with a Samar MF65 I used

YES... letting go things I don't need or use anymore makes it easier for me.
Last year around this time I sold my G SSL Compressor at a bargain of 400 Euro. The buyer was very happy, and I was happy because I stopped using it. Since then, I follow the minimizing trend; - it makes me happy....

That's a great trade. I have a little bit of attachment to the Slingerlands because they were the first set I restored...took them from shells and built them back up. But, I have another set in the same sizes in a really cool pink oyster. And I have many other projects haha

My 16 year-old Peluso 2247SE. Mint condition with three tubes. Had a very sentimental relationship with that one...my first "real" mic. Had it on Reverb and was going to pull it down when I got pinged with a 'sold" notification, so off it went. Now I'm anxious to post in the "What's the latest gear you've acquired?" forum. Obviously can't go anywhere to demo right now. Ready to pull the trigger, though.

My first mic of the category also. I guess I have some pretty healthy respect for John Peluso even though I haven't totally loved some of his other mics and capsules. That "too bright" thing comes up with some of them. I guess maybe that's a taste thing, though. The mics are built pretty well and seem "refined" in many ways. The metalwork is not the best but it's also better than a lot of cheap stuff. I can see why they hold their value.

From what I've heard of your voice, I would have no hesitation using a Heiserman H47 tube with the M7 capsule - if I were recording you. I'd recommend that as an option to buy to replace your departed P2247

I had a conversation with Mike at Wunder recently and he was steering me the same direction with his products. Sounds like it's a 47. Just a matter of which one.
