P.S. Did I mention I let go of two Warm WA76s? I also just parted ways with a couple of multi- guitar stands

Or LOSING - depending on your perspective. I'm with you on that one!! I would never let go of some of those pieces, unless I were retiring - which I will never ever ever ever ever EVER do. (Quoting Eric Nelson) Yup. Took me a decade to locate a great pair of KM86's, and they might just be the last mics I'd let go of.....

My vintage La3a has gone to a new home. ....edit I'm officially a personal songwriting studio now. I have been a personal songwriting studio for 5 years now. Not that I ever really made much money anyway. I am really interested in your post. Does that mean you are an ITB mixing studio exclusively now? I have been for some time. The 414 and 3a were for tracking. Significance being I never liked either one ME....they were kind of a pair....a great vocal chain for people who want the scoop present thing--the 414 never has the right 2-4khz to sit in the mix...and the La3a adds GOBS....so, you got kind of the "clean consonants" of the 414's capsule but the upper mid focus/poke from the 3a. So, it was like "without the 3a....what do I do with the 414? Without the 414, what am I tracking through the 3a?" Anyway....my personal vocal chain has been an old UM70s>SpeckASCT>Apex 661 for a good while. Sometimes sans the 661 and the transformer on the Speck for all digital manipulation. I've spent a LONG time weening myself off hardware for mixing. Meaning--I would take aim at this piece--can I find equivalents? Can I find BETTER in software? Can I....can? Sell it. Next? I remember Amy Grant's bass player tuning his bass differently every night....to find challenge in playing....well I started basically making a game out of "that works great!! No more using THAT....get it with something else." That's the direction, actually--not "being ITB"....it's that I needed to be less dependent on my collected bag'o'tricks...and more able to use a wider variety of kit and still make ME smile.... I did hybrid when hybrid wasn't cool. Back when it was simply called "mixing digitally"....

I did hybrid when hybrid wasn't cool. Back when it was simply called "mixing digitally".... Very cool. I just did that with my DBX 560A compressors. I have bought and sold five of them. I told myself "no more." I found that the Native Instruments VC160 can adequately and impressively do the same job which is a $50 plugin during the holiday sales. It has a wet dry blend, sidechain filter, and that makes it in fact even that much more useful than the DBX hardware. Sonic shootouts were negligible in favor of the DBX, maybe 5% more "motion" in the compressor action. Nothing you'd hear in a mix.

I haven't really sold and of my personal gear lately, but the last major thing I sold from my collection was a 68 fender bassman.
I have the guy a decent deal, but he ended up selling it for cheap to pay bills.
I regret selling that amp more than just about anything else I've sold even though it rarely got played.

I know I won't ever have another La3a. I sold it because priced bills demanded I do....that same inflation will keep going north....and my time for that kind of stuff is over. When I "GAS" now, it's for super nice minimalist stuff....can I replace my Tele and 335 with a PRS Paul's Guitar? Make my "studio" a VPC1 with a SPL Crimson on top and iMac mounted on an arm above....consolidation stuff. Boiling down the essence of what is "me". #musicianMidLifeCrisis

He actually said "sold" - I shit thee not.

I’ve been trying to sell a few things but I think I’m going to part with a few drums sets. A couple that are nice, but not really “forever” sets for me.
I bought an Audioscape Opto Compressor that should arrive soon. I’m hoping it will replace my actual UA LA-2A, which just never sounds right to me, even after getting some different tubes from Bowie.
I am trading a CAPI VP28 and a Standard Audio Level-Or for a Distressor tomorrow. That’s how it usually goes...out with the old in with new. But, I plan on having VP28’s and the MKII Level-Or someday.

I'm letting go of my Korg MS-20 Mini, it is for sale. I just never really connected with it, and it's been here for a good while.
I have already replaced it with a Behringer Model D, which you may know is the $300 clone of the famous Mini Moog. Already very happy with this swap.

Just sold a pair of Lewitt LCT 640 TS. Good mikes, really, and being able to record both sides of the capsule is actually pretty useful, but after reading Maestro Kennedy's review (and listening to his samples) of Mark Fouxman's TF08 I had to have a pair and I had to pay for them somehow...

Just sold a pair of NS-10m after realizing I hadn't turned them on for about a year. Put them up for sale and they were sold in less than an hour. Couldn't believe it.

Been seriously cleaning house lately. If I wouldn't currently buy something for what I can currently sell it for, then off it goes!
Recently sold:
Bricasti M7 Reverb - surprisingly the Slate plugin models it closely enough for me!
Burl B32 Vancouver summing mixer - I switched to ITB summing.
Burl BDA8 (2 of them) - I switched to ITB summing.
About to sell:
Focusrite Red 2 Dual Equaliser - It's awesome but doesn't get used often enough to keep it - I just may have too many EQs around here!
Burl B2 DAC - Burl BDA4 and BDA8 have replaced it for feeding my analog mastering chain.
Neumann U67 - This one really hurts but it just doesn't get much use any more - I just may have too many mics around here!
Genelec 1030a pair - a spare set.
Genelec 1092a subwoofer - a spare.

The idea of this thread is absolutely hilarious to me!!! Usually I see people bragging about what they just bought, but this feels more like a community mourning thread!! Dearly beloved, I have gathered you all here today to announce the untimely passing of my BAE1073 500-series preamp. It was a good little preamp. One that made singers sound juicy and rich. One that made your typical 57 on a guitar cab sound like a RECORD. Most importantly, it was the preamp that f***ed up most of my early bass guitar recordings when I was still learning how to dial in the gain... May he continue to “almost audiblly distort, then dial it a click back” in his new home in California. ...on a more serious note, the thing was SICK! I just didn’t need 2 for vocal tracking

Sold off my UA LA-2A Reissue in favor of a Audioscape Opto, sold off my Hairball Rev A for an Audioscape 76A, and sold my Flea 49 in favor of a Bock 49 Custom Shop.
Right now I’m selling some drums, to fund some more microphones. I’ve been needing to beef up the mic cabinet for awhile
