Rode K2— there are just so many mics in my own locker, and in those of the studios I track at that I like better. Once in a while it worked pretty well on someone's voice but the upper mids can be very unflattering.
Ampex 601— sad to see it go, but I'd rather put the money towards pres I will get more use out of. (It was noisy and fairly low headroom).

Neumann KM140's gone. Never got on with them unless they were 10 or more feet away.

Ok folks, what’s with the shame? You’ve surely sold somethjng and you should be just as happy as when acquiring.
I just had an Oktava MK-012 and a Crown SASS-P leave the mic collection. The SASS-P was my first stereo mic and was really good at certain captures, but I hadn’t used it in a decade probably.

Guess I'm lucky (in a way), that all my outboard stuff is so low end. "Outboard" ala Nanocompressor/Nanoverb, and the like.
But I'd have a headstart for the "That 90's Homerecording Show!" Especially with my period correct Vestax HDR6, perfect for (16) bit acting parts. Chris

I've continued the old 80's tech purge. various sound modules, akai / ensoniq samplers, old converters, cassette recorders,cd recorders, dat machines, reverbs, gates, drum machines, synths.
I'm looking to relocate my space in the next couple of years so i'm having a clearout of equipment that hasn't been turned on this century. been too busy / lazy to sell..

With the caveat that I'm a hobbyist and I don't use this stuff to make a living like many/most on this forum...
I let go of the Pultec EQP-1A and Retro 176 for a few reasons. The compressors/eqs/etc I have are used exclusively for tracking, and I need everything to be dead simple so that the SO can use it when I'm not available. Given that the 176 isn't really a set-and-forget piece in my experience, that's a strike against it. I also really need everything we use to be available in pairs (or have dual-mono/stereo functionality built in), and given the space, heat management, and economic investment involved in those, it didn't make sense to add additional units. Not right now, at least. So off they go to more appreciative homes.
Neve R6: Since I foresee more 500-series in my future due to the above, I "upgraded" to the R10 for more slots. I do sort of wish that the R10 had DB25 connectors for 8 of the 10 slots, but I'm probably in the minority on that opinion.

Three Frac Rack modular synth modules, haven't had a working modular system in 8 years, was time they moved on!
Pair of Line Audio CM3 SDCs.
3U Audio Warbler 127 SDC.
AA CM48T LDC.
Sold most of it via Reverb, very painless and good transactions, I do recommend it.
Now gotta sell some old clothes on Depop, and some old occult books on FB, but probably of no interest to peeps here!
Saving for a Lowden 35 or 50 model, spendy...

[...] Saving for a Lowden 35 or 50 model, spendy... Those newer Lowdens are insanely priced. I've owned 4 Lowdens over the years, but now that George has discontinued the less expensive models, I don't know if I'll ever have one again. I wish I'd never sold my first one.

He hasn't discontinued the less expensive models, can still get all the Original series in all sizes and various wood combos for a bit more than £3k. The ones I am looking at are all above £5k, unfortunately. I have still got a way to go, but hopefully this year! There are three shops within a few hundred miles of me that each have over 40 Lowdens in stock, so once I've saved enough I'm gonna do the big travel and play a load. Hopefully I'll fall in love with one of the lower priced Original series and have enough left for a really nice bass. www.lowdenguitars.com/guitar-specsBe interested to hear about your four, what they were, which you liked the most, and why you sold them!

I shipped away my e609... too bright e906 is my go-to DSL mic though, 609 didn't hang with it
Both DBX 560A... I just would rather use a plugin
Ludwig 1969 Pioneer snare drum... just don't get on with it... sent it to Netherlands
Ampeg SCR-DI bass pedal. Don't need it since I have a Hartke bass amp head now. I still have my Sans Amp Para Driver anyway. That one I'll probably never sell.
Trying to sell my Mackie 1202 VLZ4 since I upgraded to a Midas DM16 which is much better overall.
Sold a pedal I built on commission to a friend, a Harmonic Percolator. Really impressed with that build, I need to build 2 for myself! "Secret sound" quality about it.

MXL V87. Their attempt at a low cost U87 clone, but never marketed as one!
Actually a nice sounding microphone, being given to a good friend, as a VO mic. It can be worked very close up, so minimizes bad room tone in typical homes. Chris

My vintage La3a has gone to a new home. It's the last of what was my racks of mixing outboard when I invented "hybrid mixing" (sic)in the 00s after going from all analog to all digital and going "WTF is THIS shit....?"
The old 414eb has gone, too.
I'm officially a personal songwriting studio now.

The old 414eb has gone, too. I'm officially a personal songwriting studio now. I have been a personal songwriting studio for 5 years now. Not that I ever really made much money anyway. I am really interested in your post. Does that mean you are an ITB mixing studio exclusively now? I have played with the idea of committing to ITB but I also am in the process of expanding my racks. I haven't found any sound quality difference, I just am a little bit obsessed with the visual gravity of rack gear, and it sounds as good as plugins in general. It's just so expensive that I have some doubts about it sometimes, since I don't get any better results than using plugins. I am looking for a reason to justify having "sexy racks" full of cool expensive gear.

I am looking for a reason to justify having "sexy racks" full of cool expensive gear. I'd lean towards having it be unique pieces that sound different from plugs, and also pieces you tend to use on the way in while tracking.

Or LOSING - depending on your perspective. I'm with you on that one!! I would never let go of some of those pieces, unless I were retiring - which I will never ever ever ever ever EVER do. (Quoting Eric Nelson)
