We got one of these Apogee Element 24 units in to try out, and so far, I have to say the sound is really impressing me for $595. Have you guys checked this thing out yet? its pretty cool with its software control, but the additional Apogee Remote Control hardware is fully awesome. I would say, this unit comes close to their higher end units. Its surprising how good it is. What do you say RGO?

I think it's their trying to compete by building a no frills box in China like most interfaces are.

I just checked the spec's and nah it's nowhere near, seems more along the lines of the Apogee duet / quartet (which is by no means a bad thing).. Just slightly upgraded A/D.. I know specs mean zip but looking at them they don't look shy of oomph.! I mean ten years ago you'd be paying closer to <insert however many K's here> for something with these specs. Doesn't time fly?

The Element series is more comparable to the Ensemble Thunderbolt, and actually, tag teams with that interface pretty amazingly well. You can plug any Element box directly to the second Thunderbolt port of the Ensemble to add channels. Pretty cool. Its a very small portable Interface [this Element 24] and it does sound really good. It seems like it has quality electronics in it. Good headroom, natural sounding. Very similar to higher end units. Not the same, for sure, but kinda close. It seems like a pretty cool thing for a quick and easy demo rig that has a bit higher quality sound.
