I have 2 computers and 3 monitors so currently both computers are separate and stand alone. I'm looking for a way to connect both computers to my two TV's (Insignia 32") that are currently connected to the DAW/studio computer. I believe the only connections I have on these are HDMI and VGA. I prefer HDMI. The goal is to not use the studio computer for web surfing and general rubbish but I like the size and viewability of the larger displays. Anyone know of an affordable switch? I'm willing to think outside the box if I'm approaching this wrong.

We use Aten2 USB's and Belkins (soho) at work, they cost next to nothing.. If you just want to flip back and forth between two computers w/ two monitors any USB KVM would do the trick, you can get the Aten2's in both VGA and HDMI.

Might not be exactly what you're looking for but -- Old-ish pic... The screen on the lower left is the "audio" PC -- The screen on the lower right is the "business" (and internet and what not) Mac. The screen above can be either (via HDMI inputs). Both machines are running Synergy -- The Mac as the KM server and the PC as the KM client -- The mouse just moves from one screen to the other as if they were the same machine. Also up into the big screen. Sure - this isn't exactly a KVM -- I used to use one, but once I started running Synergy it sorta just sat there (although I do have one of those micro-wireless keyboards connected to the PC just in case I need a keyboard at boot). But I always used the K and the M but never really the V part anyway. Just sumthin' to think about... That said - IOGear USB KVM's worked well for me. They were VGA connectors if I recall, but they ran like tanks.

Working on Synergy today It just might be the ticket. We'll see how it serves my workflow.

I've used synergy and KVM switches and my favorite is a little software called share mouse. I believe it is free for two computers and then $25 per computer after that but it's been a long time since I've used it so the price is may be different. But the usability and reliability is wonderful

I was looking at those. I actually found an old Kramer VP-724xl scaler that I might try out along with Synergy.
