Ok: A+B sounded quite similar, liked them but they're a bit muffled.. Requires some EQ to sort that out. C was the best, sounded quite clear yet compressed.. Which is what a compressor should do. D Out of all of them this was the one that stood out, wasn't a fan. E Was a bit like D, brought out the "zing" in whatever mic you were using. Do I get a cookie now? P.S post the results already ..

I'm gonna guess.
B-sta C-bg2 A-wa2a??? Never heard one. D,E- lord knows.
A d and e all sounded too bright on your voice. The sta was just too smooth for the performance. But I did like the action on a.

I can post results whenever, I already decided and bought But Jesse's got a couple more clips for the pile and a few other folks who had input on the first couple may want to give their thoughts? All for fun and info of course. I don't need to be a big dramatic reveal. "Gotcha bastards! They're all Alesia 3630 hahahahaha!!!!"

"Gotcha bastards! They're all Alesia 3630 hahahahaha!!!!" Hah. I still have mine. I actually keep it in my rack just because. Hmm.. actually I should probably plug it in and send a signal to it; the thing does put on a nice LED light show.

On a side note I'll always stick by effects make a big difference to your track.. Between a lot of pre-amps (from some low end stuff to GR, API and Daking) in most cases I can't tell that much of a difference and when you check spec sheets there's not enough in the way of second / third order harmonic's / audible variations to say otherwise.. It's essentially because a lot of modern audio gear is designed very well. Even some the cheap stuff we're talking massive amounts of headroom / dynamic range (more than 99.9% of converters could relay) and THD's of like 0.0001%.
I've run pre-amps through SPA's and the computer / didn't have the easiest time showing the differences (a lot of zooming in), in some cases I ramped it up and used oscilloscopes with a phase shift SW device, again nothing to write home about.. Now IMO the differences between compressors shown in these clips and others aren't exactly subtle.. I'm sure we have some EE's here that can tell me I'm wrong, but I find it all interesting anyway..

Indeed. Another RGO'er was kind enough to run the vocal through his kit so I figure I should post that but I can also post the answers whenever.

So - just so you know. I didn't delete MYN's account. He chose to do it himself after sending me an email with suggestions on how to run the site. He felt the site had lost its appeal and was starting to become more like GS. I asked him not to go, since every member counts - and him deleting the account actually hurts the site. Just as an aside - I just looked on GS and he was just online 30 minutes ago. Thanks!

As for the Comps...I think I liked D the most. A & B seemed to kind of cloud things up.

Could do with the results of the last ones first, they're beginning to loose context a little bit..

HA I picked the Distressor...of course.
Did we ever have a unprocessed version? Is it kind of darkish? I think I liked C the most because it didn't emphasize that. Of course, EQ on any of these could solve any issues they have.

Kept the esses in check and didn't over-sparkle things. We all hear these things so differently. FWIW, I really like one of the last three I posted (F,G,H).
