Can anyone recommend a particular case for guitar that you would use for shipping an instrument?

I use hiscox cases for most of my instruments. And I've traveled with them a ton and I check my guitars everytime and I'ver never had an issue.

I'll be shipping mine from NYC to Long Beach CA once and that's it. Not flying it or anything. Just sending my guitars via FedEx. I'm looking at the gator TSA cases, but am curious what other people suggest.

For a One time Gator will probably do, I would look into finding a local shipping supply / box dealer see what they have in a heavy duty box in a size that works.

My band uses these cases, for over 10 years, no damage ever, and they fly over 100 times a year. The case is made from corrugated plastic, like a cardboard box made of plastic. It gives a bit, but it will not crush. Superior shock absorption. www.casextreme.com/index.phpBut for one time use, jcoutu1's suggestion is probably the way to go.

Are you guys talking about tossing my keyboards/guitars into those Reverb boxes with basic padding, like bubblewrap and paper? I should correct my original post, in that we'll be moving again in a year when the lease of the new place expires, as the place is in the flight path of Long beach Airport, so we hear a plane fly overhead every half hour or so (much better than being in the flight path of JFK or LAX tho). I don't have any cases for my keyboards period but I do have the original tweed cases my guitars came in, so I'm definitely looking at this from the point of view of buying the cases to be able to gig with them, but also being able to ship the keyboards/guitars via fedex to wherever. Who knows, I might sell them. Obviously, I'd ship the cases and keyboard inside one of those reverb boxes. However, speaking with the sweetwater rep, they said the gator cases come in a cardboard box that I could use. however the box itself comes with no padding, so I'd want to pad accordingly.. Right now, 1 bass, 2 guitars and 2 keyboards (61 & 73 key) is looking like $1100 in cases if I buy those Gator TSA cases, not including shipping costs. I'm estimating $100/instrument to ship via ground.
Perhaps the original cases for the guitars + Reverb Box will suffice for the guitars? I definitely need to buy hard cases for the keyboards and bass, so I'm looking for advice on how to protect my gear during shipment.

The original cases in the cardboard SHOULD be sufficient for guitars. I've purchased a number of guitars and basses online and the best they've ever shipped in is their original case in a cardboard box. Nobody ever popped them into a special ATA case or anything. *My Fender ADJV has an ATA case standard though. I've actually had some arrive without a case. Wrapped like crazy in bubble wrap and shoved into a box. No horror stories yet with guitars, but I personally wouldn't ship uncased.
