Slate posted somewhere awhile ago that the subscription model means the more subscribers the price for the end user will drop...

Don't want to have a plugin bilI, yearly is still smartest. I would def buy a few Slate goodies if the purchase prices were closer towards subscription prices...
It is hard to justify one plug for the same price as all of them for a year ( $179.88 ) plus ownership of one Slate plug.... So if you pick a $149 plug at the end of the year, you paid or $30 to access Slate's whole bundle and you bought one plug of choice...
Maybe Slate could throw in a free year of the bundle when purchasing a plug for a small add on say $25-$30 to make it truly even for subs and buyers ...
Video and samples sound really really good 🤠🤘

That is really nice. I would check out the Eventide plugins too. The UltraReverb is often cheap and sounds really good, in that same wheelhouse.

You may be completely correct, I remember that was Slate's added incentive for ppl to subscribe, but yes this was awhile ago and may not be valid ...

I think it was just a promotion when they launched the rental thing.

I'm against the subscription model too, but this is a bit different. His plugs cover almost every category.

I dig it. In 10 years I will have paid $1,495 for everything he develops... and I can quit whenever I want? Not a bad deal. What's the resistance guys? Honest question...I never see the angles.

I own a bunch of the stuff and still jumped on the subscription. I should probably sell the stuff I own..

I own a bunch of the stuff and still jumped on the subscription. I should probably sell the stuff I own.. I'm the opposite. I own all I need from other vendors, but bought the bundle just to see how I got on with it. After working with it for awhile the only thing from Slate I ever use are the VTM and VCC. I already own the VTM. I'll probably buy the VCC for $169.00 and be done with it. To each his own....

I'm against everybody jumping on the bandwagon because I can't afford to this company for a verb this company for a compressor and on and on. Slate's bundle cover a ton of territory

And you forget that SS updates his algos too. If they can do it better, they try to do it better. With UAD the useres have to ask a few years before they get MKII modelling and they have to pay for that again. I think the subscription plan business modell is the future. Becasue its cheap and I am always up to date with the latest code. My biggest argument pro slate is the plug ins are - for me- the next best thing to real hardware. They have a sound, they do a little bit that 3 D thing and they are inuitive tools in mix mode.

I jumped on years ago. Never been disappointed over all. Some of their comps are better than others but overall it's a huge win. Like jk said they cover so much territory, always improve and update. Worth it.

Downloaded these and started using them on a mix yesterday. They're good. Overall I like the verbsuite a lot...mostly using the bricasti emulations. I just finished a record where I used it all over the place in combination with a couple outboard units I have. Mastering engineer actually asked me about the reverb. Unusual...
I dig it

I'm against everybody jumping on the bandwagon because I can't afford to this company for a verb this company for a compressor and on and on. Slate's bundle cover a ton of territory I would agree with this regarding people buying new plugins. Unfortunately, I'd bought everything already. Also, -unlike many- I prefer a one plug-in per insert approach. I use hardware and software as inserts and the "everything in one insert" didn't help me with Slate in terms of changing positions of my hardware/software to hear differences.

Love the Slate bundle. I also love that you can track thru them like the UAD stuff. Just tracked a 5 piece band with the virtual mix console on every channel and no issues at all.

Since we're kinda drifting in to a general slate discussion...
I been using the heck out of the mixrack. Just to get a feel for the plugs.
The air plug is great. The one at the top. I use it at default setting and add just a pinch on vocals...really cool lift.
I'm loving the bomber in combo with air on pianos in a dense, rock mix type situation where I'm really only after the right hand stuff. Probably wouldn't be great on an exposed piano in a more sparse arrangement.
The tube suite stuff is ignorable for me...when I've used it I like the Altec one.
The cs eq is cool...I like where the freq points are.
But the air is the ticket for me. I'd pay 15 bucks a month for that alone.

Well, except that the UAD way is truly low latency in that it bypasses the DAW buffer all together. But yeah, if you can tolerate the DAW buffer, Slate stuff adds no additional latency, which is indeed great. I'm too sensitive to the phasey smear of latency, even at 64 buffet and 88.2k. But many people don't even notice it and it causes no issue.

Yeah the air and the monster are getting a lot of use here. I used air on the snare a minute ago and it was perfect. I absolutely love all the mix knobs they have on everything. Saves me a lot of time.
