That does sound OK, but when I was in front of it, there were six other Fenders, and it wasn't quite as good. Now, listen to this, and compare. Ignore the cheesy video, listen to the sound.. THIS is the deal. It's pricey, but references are always good to have, eve if you're looking for something less expensive. That amp sounds great. Thanks Martin. |

Thanks for that Martin, I'll do as you say and just try propping it up on a chair or something see how it sounds when I record it.

My pleasure guys.
Man, when I first heard the Louis Electric Colombia, I had that adrenaline rush of "there it is", the sound I've been imagining for a long long time. I used a 66 Fender Super Reverb for a while and it did the same thing, just jolted you with tone, but Supers are just way too big and loud for my purposes now.

How about an Egnater Tweaker 20 or 15 Head? Small, versatile, easy to tube roll for tones, pair with the appropriate cab (1x12, 2x12) for recording and gigs. I have a 15 head and really like it as an all around rig. There is LOTS of tube/mod info out there for it. My only comment is that, depending on the tubes you choose, it will do one of its three modes (Fender Vox Marshall) better than the others, but that's cool, IMO.

Hey Martin, I think you missed my question  What are your thoughts on putting my Princeton on an amp stand to record - do you think it's a worthwhile improvement? What is the difference using an amp stand? Thanks FWIW, I've used an Auralex GRAMMA to isolate my cabs from the floor for years and have found it to be a worthwhile purchase. As far as vs. putting your amp on a stand I cannot help since I don't use one in the studio. I also use the GRAMMA for my amps - keeps things from rattling around the room. I don't use stands, although 3 of my Fenders have tilt-back legs, but only use those live, not for recording. |

I don't use stands, although 3 of my Fenders have tilt-back legs, but only use those live, not for recording. I use both a Gramma and a stand, not at the same time. Depending on your mic technique, you might want the up angle away from the floor. |
