Just from the look of how it processes, I would bet it truly would make a vocal absolutely massive sounding. The parallel eq I think is where this goes from being a good compressor to a great one. I'd love to have one.

I think Joel Hamilton was using it on lead vocal on the latest UAD Session video that's on the UA Facebook. Might be worth a look/listen.

Side note: Did you hear my files of the Maag Eq's I modded? Pretty unreal.

Am I crazy? I thought I was looking at a hardware compressor! As far as I can tell, the UAD session videos, whatever they are called, are really not about hardware vs software, just using both in a proper studio session, with cameras everywhere, as well as commentary. So lots of hardware, as well as a few plugins. Sort of modern, I guess. "Why not both."

To be fair, it's pretty humble for UA to be doing videos like these, with your quotation in mind. I give them a little respect and a few props for it.

Side note: Did you hear my files of the Maag Eq's I modded? Pretty unreal. I loved the air band, but the overall sound of the stock EQ was just blah flat, in fact I had a stock Rane Parimetric that sounded better as a Utility EQ, so If you figured out how to make it useable!

This looks really good. I wonder how it sounds. It seems very similar to a bl-40 with the addition of the parallel eq. I must say. If it sounds as good as it looks on paper this could be wonderful.

Air and sub are all I use most of the time. Once in a while the 2.5 shelf or a cut in the 650 band. But top and bottom bands are $$

Plus you know I love manufacturer's who think a little different!

For those wondering.... www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MagnumK Roq Martin is my sales rep and he's awesome. Everyone I've dealt with there is great. So, $2395 is the going price... I think I can scrape up the drachma, shekels, pesos, greenbacks and stirling together hmmmm

They really missed the mark naming this thing huh? How did they not call it the MaagnumK.
Anyway, it does look rad. I have their 4 channel preamp (that features the AirBand) and it's the balls. Really nice unit. I imagine this compressor is balls too.
