Perhaps there are many mics made with similar parts that are cheaper, I wouldn't know. But I'll tell you this, whatever major or minor things they did to put the Delphos together, it worked much better than any of the fancy looking less expensive brands I've tried. Quality control is invisible to the camera unless it's extremely bad or really, really exceptionally good. You can't tell the difference between a mass produced capsule that has passed really stringent QC testing and one that's been rejected and thrown in ther dustbin by looking at it unless the reject is exceptionally bad - like a torn or visibly wrinkled diaphragm or one with visibly bad sputtering. Note to Martin: This is in support of your post which, like mine, was in response to a rather foolish post by another person. This why I always want to here a couple of examples of mics using any Chinese capsules, often somebody just gets lucky!

I thought this was a great workhorse mic. I was impressed enough to write a TapeOp review. I ended up picking one up on Reverb for 300 bones. Try sticking this mic in front of a guitar amp.

I find the fact that the mic is already available on Reverb for $300 to be, well, a bit of a flag? Haven't heard it , still reserving any real opinion, but why would it be on Reverb that cheap? Maybe the wrong guy won the drawing? I think it's just a wee bit rude to immediately put something you've won up on Reverb or the equivalent for 1/3 the going price...
