Hello guys, Thanks for your interest in our units.. ProReplicas is from Poland, it's little manufacture, which operates from about 5 years. We don't produce large quantities units but make our units very carefully in terms of mounting, inside wiring and external appearance. Our policy is faithful reproduction of the original units at the lowest possible price and with minimal compromises. So, we also don't make too advertising our products outside of our web side and not have distributors, because every paid marketing and distributors much boosts the price of the product. When it comes to units.. EQP-1A - our replica is very similar to units of Cartec EQP-1A, here are the same excellent audio transformers from Sowter, and tubes from JJ Electronic. In our EQP-1A is only replaced tube of rectifier via diodes, but this conversion practically does not affect on the sound, because it is only in the power supply of the entire system - for example, this tube was replaced in PULTEC MEQ-5 (it's very similar construction for EQP-1A) via diodes. In block filter, instead coil from Sowter, we apply coil own production, which have very high accuracy, around 1-3% and of course the same parameters like in original units. In block filter are use very good foil capacitors from BC Components (type 386) and Mullard Tropical Fish. 1176 - revisions A and D, via used audio transformers (Ed Anderson), are very similar for kits Hairball Audio, but our units have some more aesthetic appearance and we don't use plastic connectors on the master PCB, all connections are directly solder via solid wires and cables with screen. - revison G is our a most faithful representation, here can tell that it's almost the original device because almost all components (responsible for sound) are the same as were used in original units of revision G in 1979, including also a output transformer (this revision have input via electronic balanced, via opamp NE5532 from Signetics). On units is the one year warranty, receipt of sales, and eventual cheap service of repair in future. Here are currently prices of units: Replica of PULTEC EQP-1A - 3670 PLN ( around 1190 USD) Replica of UREI 1176LN rev.A (blue stripe) - 3160 PLN ( around 1020 USD) Replica of UREI 1176LN rev.D (black face) - 3160 PLN ( around 1020 USD) Replica of Urei 1176LN rev.G (black face) - 2900 PLN ( around 940 USD) Replica of 1176-SA (stereo adapter for 1176) - 100 PLN (around 35 USD) When ordering larger quantities: 2 units - 3% discount for each unit. 3 units - 5% discount for each unit. 4 units and more - 7% discount for each unit Robert Darowski, www.proreplicas.com

Some of us either can't or don't want to solder...Less than a new UA with historically correct faceplates? I think it's awesome.

Hairball haven't kit for revision G and at my calculation it will some higher than 400 $, I think, that it will around 500$ (with the rest of components). For customers from Europe you must add still the cost of shipping, duty and vat, this all gives something around 650-700$ only for parts. Additionally, in units ProReplicas rev. G are used: original transformer B11148 (Hairball have only replicas B11148), original opamp NE5532 form Signetics, and nearly all the original transistors (transistors 2n3707 are replaced via 2n5088) - most of these transistors is no longer produced and has its price.

Hairball does have a REVG. It's 268$ for the main parts, chassis and boards. Mouser cart contents are 86$. That's 354$+ shipping. So 400$. I bought my Signetics 5532 from Ebay for 1$, and I bought NOS 2n3707/2n5088 from Places like Smallbear or Mammoth for a few $$ as well.. So even with the overhead it's still like 425$.
Sorry for giving you a hard time. I just don't understand why people try to sell exact clones of gear that someone else designed, for profit. That's part of the reason I left GroupDIY years ago when it stopped being about making your own gear and started being about making money off the back of someone else's design.

Shipping costs to the U.S. are dependent on the number of units, with two or three units shipping price is acceptable and similar like for customer from Europe. Unfortunately, I do not sell parts or kits, on this point I refer to the Hairball shop. Robert Darowski,

Do if someone invented thousands of years ago wheel this means, that all manufacturers of wheels should produce them today for free? Robert Darowski www.proreplicas.com

Raising cows in my back yard would substantially reduce my "steak" costs...but I don't know or want to learn the art of butchering...It's worth paying someone else to do it.

No, but paying for steak while getting hamburger with Waygu written on it still isn't a deal.. I think I'll just stay out of this thread for now on.
