I've heard that the 47 FET was preferred for kick drums, but I figured there has to be other places it works well on. I remember Bob Ohlson saying something to the effect that engineers didn't like the 47FET when it came out, so they assigned it to the kick drum, basically to use it somewhere. A $3,500 kick drum mic seems a bit excessive in all but the higher end studios.
With Stam making a 47 FET style mic affordable, maybe people can finally use one for their kicks. I imagine there aren't that many folks here whose budget could allot $3,500 for a kick drum mic.

It would be considered a decent mic if it didn’t say Neumann 47 it probably wouldn’t be as panned as it is nor as expensive. It can work on the right voice sometimes.

I got one! It's such a beautiful mic. The blacked out logo looks awesome! I will post a review ASAP.

Has anyone else had odd noise or cutting out issues with their SA-47Fet? I've never really been able to use it or sell it in good conscience because mine will randomly go silent sometimes or produce strange sounds intermittently. If anyone knows of this issue and how to fix it (or wants my SA47 to try and fix it yourself), that would be great.

We've tried that twice already and it still has the same problem...
