I've been using a Heritage Audio OST 4 v2 for some time now, and it's been working great. Only the power supply is a real cheap piece of plastic.
Lately I've acquired a Serpent Audio Splice 500 MK2, that's a 1176. And, in blue stripe mode it is noticeably noisy, more than it should be. I can't use it after my Chroma, which is sad because there was some magic in the Neve -> 1176 combination.
I'm thinking that I could get an improvement with a good quality 3rd party power supply, vs the cheap plastic one that came with the OST 4.
Would you do that? Or anything else?
BTW I have 2 Splices, and both are noisy the same. According to the previous owner the noise wasn't an issues before, that's why I'm thinking it's the rack or its power supply

Hard to say since I've read that the Heritage Audio OST series are generally well regarded; I think a user here uses a handful of them in a console sort of arrangement as well...
The series is also recommended by LTL in their FAQ, if I'm not mistaken.
Do you know someone in your area who has a rack you try the units in? Probably a low chance of it being the units themselves, but maybe something happened to them in their last rack which resulted in the noise issue. I would probably try different outlets in your space for that power supply and see if it changes the noise level.
