Weird. Great picture collection. They gave the 77-A's away, and got the history all wrong. Think they also gave away the K&H EQ's.

Dave is a really nice guy and fine to deal with. My buddy just purchased an AWS900 from him and he got a killer deal.
The pricing of this stuff is outrageous though. WAYYYYY off the mark.

I have never understood PAD's pricing of used gear, it's always been all over the place, but they do have some very impressive clients & some very pretty gear. It might all be consignment and the sellers sets an ask plus commission. This is has always been a problem with consignment and brokers, the broker wants the listing so they ask the seller what they want for the gear then add their commission. No regard for market value. You would think the Internet would change this & it has with live guys, but studio brokers seam to care more about getting the listing rather than moving gear!

I've seen individual 77-A's sell for more than they priced that pair. Doesn't take much research to know that. Yeah, all over the place.

When I saw the K&H pair listed a couple weeks ago, I thought about trying to figure out how I could afford them. Couldn't make it work though.

Geebus, I wonder how much a neumann is going to set me back when I finally have the funds to purchase one. Someday.

Maybe it's time to sell some vintage equipment and buy the new Corvette Stingray I want.

I have sent the following email to all of my friends....
Dear Xxxx,
As I have an aversion to people wasting money on cheap commercial junk they typically send each other at Christmas I decided to give it some careful thought and compiled a list of some more useful gifts I felt my good friends could arrange to provide me with this coming Christmas. (See attached PDF titled "Vintage Audio Equipment Sale")
I'm not particularly fussed which item you choose and I don't require it to be gift wrapped so that should at least save you a couple of bucks.
So apart from that how have you been?

So what happened to the guy who was buying all this gear for his " studio "? Did he ever get to make any wonderful music with all of this amazing gear? I'm confused lol 😂
Also the DECCA mics ripped out all the tubes and replaced them with fet's... Interesting... not my $40k tho 🤷♂️😎

Wiz will know about this guy...
There's a guy here in Australia who was going to set up a world class studio for his son. He had a collection of vintage gear more comprehensive than this.
The KM54 I purchased from him was one of eight he had owned and I also got my pair of KM85's from him.
He also had owned around dozen U48's.
I would have estimated his vintage Neumann mic collection alone would have probably exceeded $1 million.
He even purchased land to construct the studio on but then his son decided he didn't want to run a studio and moved interstate.
So his father announced a few years ago he was liquidating all the gear he had been collecting.
The gear list was insane (think Blackbird Studio) and there's still stuff appearing for sale from time to time.

I wish I had that kind of money. I sure wouldn't spend it on an overpriced 670.

Could you imagine if you had a job that made - even - say, a million a year. This hobby would be peanuts. Again, it's becoming clear to me that I need a real job to support this habit.
