So I'm working on a project right now that has a lot of sub bass kicks and low synthy bass parts. I'm having some trouble getting the low end to sit where I want and to stand out on small speakers etc. I was thinking of trying maxxbass but waves won't sell me a legacy license. All my current waves plugins are v6 and I refuse to pay to upgrade all of them for one simple plugin.
Can you guys recommend any maxxbass alternatives or other bass enhancer plugins? My current workflow is to duplicate the sub kicks, band pass filter and apply saturation and/or distortion to the new track and layer back in in parallel. It's working ok but I'd still like to explore what plugins are out there for this type of stuff. I'm generally more of a rock guy so working with more urban genres is a little challenging for me. Thanks.

So purchase from a 3rd party seller as a new customer
I would recommend Rbass actually also distortion or saturation from harmonics..

Use a gate and a sine wave generator. Input your track into the sidechain of the gate, then gate a 50hz sine and add a little to your mix.
Or use renaissance bass.
I do both with fairly good results. Balance is key too.

I'm on Cubase. I've been contemplating switching to Logic for years but I'm just so comfortable with my current setup is been hard to convince myself to do it.

I emailed Waves and asked if they would sell me a legacy license and they said no. They said a legacy license wouldn't be compatible with the current ilok architecture and would cause issues with my other licenses...which makes no sense to me because my other waves v6 licenses work fine. This is wave I stopped buying waves almost 10 years ago.

Plugin Alliance has the bx subfilter which is free and also qualifies you for the $79 upgrade to bx subsynth which I picked up for $4 using my PA May discount coupon. Sub Synth is actually pretty useful, PA says it's a modeling of the dbx 120xp with some added features.

Yeah I just really like logics flex time tool and the ability to use the DAW without a USB dongle is nice. I'd like to record stuff at the studio, bounce some tracks down and edit at home in the evenings (after my kid falls asleep). Seems like I could get a lot of work done that way. I'm just not patient enough to learn a new GUI.

Pick up a dbx120 on ebay. You can get them cheap and they work great. Much better than any plug I've tried for that application.

There is also a Furman rack unit and of course the Aphex Big Bottom, the only part that makes the Aphex Exciter exciting 😁

I know just the thing but I have morals. Thanks -L. Then you're in good company because neither do I Would you share your secrets if I told you I was a Zulu customer? Lol (because I am) It's ridiculous on low kicks and basses especially 808 and sub basses. Matthew Weiss enjoys it thoroughly for this. It's extremely good if you EQ and boost into it. The tape compression and the low end are just superb for this. Print and print and print some more. Lofi it up for parallel. Hifi it up for direct. Use Enhance at 0 for more squeeze on MX mode and use HX for purity and Hi deck. Smack it with EQ and gain. Like butta. Thanks -L.

I haven't seen anyone mention Boz Lab's Little Foot. I use this instead of MaxBass with good success.

Plugin Alliance has the bx subfilter which is free and also qualifies you for the $79 upgrade to bx subsynth which I picked up for $4 using my PA May discount coupon. How did you manage that? After applying the $25 off May coupon, my upgrade comes to $54. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance for any help.

Do you have a ton of Plugin Alliance plugs or something? I'm curious how they're giving out the coupons.

The coupon program has been a really nice surprise.
I have no idea how they are calculating the coupons though, last month it was $25, the month prior $75.
