Glad to know it arrived. It's actually called a CT12 (Campbell Transmitter 12) rather than a TC12

Is that a heiserman capsule? Is a hk47? Have you used any of his capsules?

Yes it is and not yet, this is the first one I am trying. Any word on his caps ? No I have not used any of his capsules. I have been wondering the quality of Heiserman capsules since they are praised by some however I can't find audio of said capsules or any comparisons. . Looking forward to your thoughts 😎✌️

I just received my pair of ct12 caps as well. Now I have to install them in my 414 eb's. I'm a little scared about figuring out the wiring. I think it should be pretty self explanatory, the only thing is determining where the backplate wires go. They are the same color.

Cortland, if you're replacing an AKG nylon capsule with mine both yellow backplate wires should connect where the white ones on the AKG attached. They both attach the same place because that mic only uses 3 capsule connections. The black front membrane wire attaches the same place as the green. The rear red membrane wire attaches the same as the red.

Thank you for making these available for everyone. Very nice price as well.

Yes bliss in other audio gear but still have not tried them in the mic but will shortly with the CT12

I bought a 47FET clone a few months back with a Heiserman capsule HK47. I ewventually bought a genuine K47FET from Neumann, and they are really really different. The Heiserman is way brighter. Note that I compared my clone the a Neumann reissue, and the Neumann was a tad brighter than my clone, but very very little. Considering the test was not made with a measuring tape to check the distance from my mouth to both capsules, I can easily say they sounded almost identical. Now, the Heiserman capsule is, to me, clearly not a clone. But it is a great sounding capsule. The air coming out of it was especially nice. So my experience is this : a clone ? no. A great capsule ? definitely.

Most say a capsule is 75-80% of the sound of the mic.. If the capsule does not sound like the capsule it is replicating, can the circuit or tone of the mic be modified to work around the capsule difference?
Sounds like the kk47 is still the best choice if going for a 47 style capsule... I want to hear a Hk47 vs a Thiersch Blue Line comparison 😎

Quite some time ago, about 5 years to be exact, I had the extreme pleasure of chewing Eric's ear off about capsule design. During the course of these conversations, Eric and I exchanged over chat, telephone calls and email, our ideas about capsule design. Eric is the genius in this conversation so I'm not trying to steal flames. Rather what I'm pointing out is that the HK47 which I used to call the H2O capsule (I used to say the demos Eric sent me sounded like water LOL) is revolutionary in its approach. It breaks the conform of limiting yourself to the gospel of historic design and instead implements clever engineering practices to make a great sounding capsule that's got some K47 in its bones along with some other tidbits of other capsules that make it a fantastic hybrid design. Its awesome 5 years later to see ideas that we threw back and forth at each other, become real and become a part of new canon in microphone design.
Regarding the engineering behind the HK47, I'm quoting this right off Eric's site:
"This is my take on the famous k47 capsule popularized by the Neumann U47. It came after the m7 and was introduced to be a more consistent capsule then the edge glued m7 variant. My version is a hybrid of the 47 and 67 style capsules. I achieved this by using the same hole pattern as the original 47 but doing this on the separate back-plates, like a 67. This allows me to further match and tune the capsule to much tighter tolerances and keeps the same wonderful mid-range and top of the original 47."
I'm honored that I even got to brainstorm, run off at the mouth with Eric when this was still in early development. I've heard it in a few microphones and its always sounded fab to me! I highly recommend his capsules and despite the doubts you may have, his work is superb!
Thanks -L.

The Stam 87 I think is using a Heiserman capsule, if you want to look up samples. To my ear, it sounded good.

Absolutely, but I remember a little issue of it not sounding the same as an original one. See the other forum.

Absolutely, but I remember a little issue of it not sounding the same as an original one. See the other forum. I haven't played with Eric's Capsule, but the K87/67/870 is a moving target and an inconsistent one at that so I'm going to wait, even if I'm still more likely to Grab a real Neuman Capsule! It is pretty much excepted at this point in time that the Capsule is the secret sauce when it comes to mics, I understand that AKG forgot how to make CK12's So if you want to get there Tim Campbell , MBHO and some others will get you very close & Neumann won't build you a M7, Gefell still makes a good one but won't sell you one so Thirsch and others fill that hole. When it comes to K47 & and k67/87/870 are still being made! They Still nail the 47/49 and the 67/87/870 while inconsistent you can get them, so is this all about price ? I mean you could grab a STAM or Warm plop a real Neumann Capsule in there and still be below a used 87. Don't like that Capsule ? You can probably turn it and only loose $100! And try another !

Speaking of moving targets, ericn, the reason nobody seems completely satisfied with 1176, LA2a and LA3a recreations and clones might be because no two of those were ever alike either. All extremely similar but not alike. The same is true of all the vintage Neumann/AKG/T-Funk microphones.

Totally agree. I personnaly bought 2 old K87 and 1 K67 lately for my builds. I don't see the point of chasing clones when the originals are still manufactured, even at their price. With the only exception of Shannon. There I see the point.

Take this with a pinch of salt, I sell the product, of course I am going to say good things about it, it is quite obvious that I would have picked another capsule manufacturer for the 87 if it sounded better or closer to our vintage 87.
The HK87 we used on the SA87 build (or are using) sounds amazing, better than any other capsule recreation for the u87 I have tired (we tried them all), hence we choose his.
In a blind shootout 90% choose our SA87 above a vintage and also a current Neumann u87, I was not sure if I was happy, for it to sound better is subjective and I also wanted it to sound the same, not better, not worse. We did some tweaking with Eric after that and it now sounds extremely close my vintage 87, I would say 95% there, if we change the name of the tracks we cant tell which one is which.
The Sowter output transformer sounds magnificent as well.
