Come to think of it, now that you said it....As much as I don't want to agree, I agree. I haven't heard the Slate VMS. Let me know if you get a chance to hear it. I'm eyeing this one!

Wow, that's cool Ragan. We all have wondered just where the VMS stands when compared to a really good mic like your U 67. Please start a new thread around that if you get a chance. That Bock looks a little generic for a $2,500 mic, don't you think? I'm sure it's really good, but how good when side by side a U67 is the question. The Blackspade I used to have and the Avantone BV-12, C-12 use the same basic mic body with differing fit and finish of the other parts. There was a certain way my Blackspade emphasized detail that was better than compression. It somehow caught all the subtlety and nuance that people use compression to bring out to balance softer parts of vocals sometimes. Blackspade will eventually come out with a new version of their UM17B, and if they take that thing one small step forward, I think it'll compete with anything on the market, it was that good already, and it'll be less expensive than the U99. The big S looks a little too much like Superman's emblem. I'd like to see a different graphic for it, but of course, it doesn't matter much if it actually sounds like a real U67. I noticed in the copy they mention everything EXCEPT lead vocals in the uses for the U99. That makes me wonder if they're planning on a making a different mic intended for main vocals. Attachments:

I have yet to hear a bock. On the internet some models seem very well liked. Others, not so much. I have always been interested.

So this for $2599? I'm sure it's sounds amazing but the price has me 🤔 I could:
1.) a miktek cv4 used for $1200-1300 and then send to mic rehab for another $500-$1000 worth of work 2.) a pearlman tm-1 for $1699 and $999 to spend on a preamp or comp, or again send to mic rehab if needed... 3.) a user Neumann u89 for an all arounder...
Idk this price is way to much for the mic to be so generic / oem'd up... Normally the bock mics look and sound killer ( 507/47/251/241 ) I just can't see myself dropping almost $3000 for this mic... that's me without hearing it... here is to hoping the mic performs and stands up with the big boys. Bock knows his mics/ circuits/ tubes.. 😀

Chase, if you can go FET, the Warm WA87 with the Zen Pro mod could be a monster.

Wonder what Capsule this uses? Doubt it's one of the MBHO's!

I swear I read somewhere John Kennedy stating he is thinking about going back to the Shannon Rhoades C4 Modded mic. I'm sure we will hear from him soon...lol.

I am threatening to book time in Nashville at a very nice studio and testing different mics, including SR mics! That sounds like a good RGO get together. Video Document it and You Tube it!!! That is a Threat and it will happen, when it will happen, not sure yet. I need Randy Kohrs, John Kennedy, Jerome Mason, Shannon Rhoades of course, and a few other 40 people that want to do this!!! We need to hear the truth! This will be an eye opening experience, with much learned and money not wasted!

I've had a U99. Umm....no, it's fucking not. It was a nice enough mic....mine was prior to the name change....so, honestly--if that looks like a Slate product, that's more because a Slate mic looks like a SoundDesign mic from 2003.

I talked to Sean at Bock and he said the Soundelux name is back. I would've preferred a shiny head basket!

If it happens I hope you guys do document it. Sounds like a nice watch/listen.
