Typical British console EQ, useable not a tone of vibe. With the flood of 500 series EQ I could probably find something more desirable, first thoughts Speck or SSL for surgical API 550 or Jerome's favorite Gruop DIY for vibe and that Clariphonic Brad designed for something in between! But as always if the price is right , or you have a thing for Amek.

I used the AMEK 9098 Channel strip on an unreleased EP from 2005. Used my KSM44 through it on about half of the songs. It worked well for the Pop crossover/Josh Groban stuff I was doing at the time. Enough so that it got me into meetings with Sony Music. Alas, then the industry imploded.

The 9098 is a different beast ! How so? I'm curious about your thoughts. I'm currently down a preamp and have been looking at some solid state options.

I have a friend who owned... maybe an Angela? I wasn't around when he had it, he did not have anything flattering to say about the EQ.
I also know several people who worked in Hyde St. D when they had an Amek in there and they don't have anything good to say either.
Another friend had an Amek Big with a modded center section. He said the EQ got "splashy" when pushed. Later he sold it and went ITB/hybrid.
