Has anyone here had a piece moddified by Revive Audio, or purchased one of their pieces or premodified gear? They gave me pricing to modify my TNC ACMP-84. I really enjoy the EQ section on this, but want to get it closer to the true Neve sound. I'd love to hear some experiences with RA before I do it. www.reviveaudio.comI'm also open to other suggestions for this modification.

Anyone try their Warm Audio Pultec mod (EQP-WA)? $350 seems like it would be great value for even a modest improvement in sound. From their website:
"While the (Warm Audio) design is not authentic to an original these sound fairly nice for the money, however the cost cutting measures small up the sound while making the unit sound brittle and lack luster when boosting when compared to the original.
With the modifications we remedy these issues and really bring out the Pultec in these.
About the design:
The EQP-2a utilizes Cinemag input and output transformers which sound very smooth and warm in the circuit but the rest of the audio path leaves something to be desired.
The circuit is fairly close to the original but as with most Chinese manufactured units, the quality of the components leaves the sound in the Wanting category.
One short cut beyond the quality of components is the lack of an interstage transformer.
The interstage transformer while not necessary for the gain of the design, did impart a fair amount of color and offered nice de-coupling for DC between the EQ and amp stage.
Our modifications bring back the low end, smooth out the equalizer and bring back the character to the design.
The Results:
The service increases the headroom of the unit, widens the frequency response, smoothes out the response in a more musical way and increases the character/color of the design."

Hey Wiz, What do you mainly use your Compellor on? Backing Vox .... stereo buss....overheads ...percussion its great cheers Wiz We have 320A that's our main buss compressor also. It's great for transparent dynamic control when you want to preserve transient detail, high end and still glue the mix together without audible artifacts. I first bought an original Compellor 300A from Dave McCluney (Atlantis) about 25 years ago. He said to me when I picked it up... " I dunno, I can't really tell whether it's in or out so I think there may be something wrong with it." This was while it was showing about 15db of gain reduction! I originally used it a lot for recording live acoustic music to 2 track which it was great for.

I have a Warm tube pultec clone in now. It got some better preamp tubes, Dale resistors, film and foil EQ caps, etc. I'll listen to it tomorrow. I charged the guy $150 for the work. There's not that much stuff in there.

So, I'm thinking about sending an old POS DBX 266 Project 1 to Revive. It's something I bought 20 years ago back when I was composing music for TV and it's been sitting in my studio closet forever. I used it for a bit when I started VO because I always liked the action on the gate for my voice but that sucker is grainy. Revive said they can "revive" it and turn it into something akin to the SSL buss comp for about $225. I've read lots of great reviews of their work. I'm currently using the UAD SSL Legacy plug in gates so there's no rush on my end. Probably something I'd do mainly as an expense later in the year if I do it. But damn, I am intrigued at the prospect of resurrecting this old thing mostly since I have some history with it and I think its the last piece I still have from the first business I started.
I guess what I'm saying here is that if anyone else has an opinion on Revive's work, I'd be happy to entertain it.

I bought a modified DBX 160x and it sounds fantastic! I can't compare to an original though. I actually liked it so much that decided to buy their 1176 clone, the Vintage Audio m76. I'll get it sometime next week I hope, it's stuck in customs right now.

I have had Revive redo all my DBX 903's and 905"ss I was really happy with them. Of course I was at first sceptical and as a few of you know I don't brag about my technical knowledge so my process was to send in one piece to have it modded and when I got it back I A/B'd it to the original. With both the comp and EQ I noticed an improvement so I sent the next one in. Communication was great workmanship seemed legit, all pieces are in use to this day. It's been 3-4 years so far. My 2c.

Revive Audio is awesome! You can call and actually talk to them, ask questions etc. Their Vintage Audio M12 4 channel pre is highly underrated. Great components, build quality, features, made in USA, and sound. Cinemag transformers in and out. It was around for years before Warm made their WA412, but more people seems to be talking about the WA412... Perhaps just a marketing thing? Check it out: www.reviveaudio.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=101&product_id=170

I don't recall it being anything special which is probably why I don't remember much about it. I run a company called Audio Upgrades. Gear like that has been hot-rodded here since the 1980's. www.audioupgrades.com

Gear like that has been hot-rodded here since the 1980's. www.audioupgrades.comGotcha...Thank you for following up. With that said your company does mod's and upgrades similar to Revive Audio? I apologize, I don't know any other company that does this type of work off the top of my head so I don't mean to lump you in with anyone else. Just a point of reference for me. I was looking onto possibly having them do a few things and one of the posts here said that another individual should call you first. I have a few Warm Audio units. I don't have any issues with them necessarily, but I also have no point of reference for them either. I don't know if they can be better. There seem to be some who think so, but I guess I am curious your take on their gear. 1176 and la2a clones as well as their pultec clones. Thanks sir If you would rather me email you I am happy to do that as well
