So, this happened yesterday...with Jason Mraz; he has a really wonderful studio, and owns a U47 and a 251 and some other choice pieces. They used the REDD Microphone -> 1176 on his vocals, various overdub tracking, and Cello... The settings on the mic for his vocal were: Cardioid, Gain: 30db, Drive, standard voicing, Output at unity. It was fun to see their faces light up as they experienced it. https://www.instagram.com/p/BZKBWvthEqG Adam you guys are lucky, Wade has this way of giving us stuff that just never sucks! The thing with Chandler is , mic comp EQ Channel strip or pre amp, you can tell somebody to just buy Chandler and you know it will give great results, sure their might be better, but you know Chandler will give results that will work, the only other brand I can recommend blindly is CAPI!

I spent more time with this REDD Mic this past weekend on my saxophone. My initial thoughts - It is just stellar!!! I can't wait to use it on some of the artists I'm working with. This is my first Chandler product and Adam, Wade and the Chandler crew have been amazing. Buy with confidence folks. I'll echo what others have been saying. This thing is amazing!! I'll try to contribute more here as I spend more time with it.

Wow - this mic is killer! I just recorded my sax on it - and the Chandler handled a bright modern tenor sax like a champ. Here's some samples. This is raw and flat - completely unprocessed. Normally an unprocessed sax would tear my head off - but even with a brighter horn and setup, the Chandler sounds so sweet. Second clip is the same recording with a bit of reverb. Recorded in normal mode. soundcloud.com/user-934989569/sets/darren-rahn-tenor-sax-on-chandler-redd-microphone

Of course that has a lot to do with you're performance, however, it's very true sounding.

It definitely inspires playing through it. I can wait to put it through its paces and get some vocalists on this thing!

Why is it I see guys plugging this thing in clipping the console mic pre, and taking an hour to figure it out! I get it I love the concept but I was talking to a guy who was kind of interested but "What if I want it and the Neve pre sound" ever heard of a pad? there's a lot of idiots out there buying pro audio gear with no concept of gain staging Save

I shouldn't have listened, I can't afford the damn mic!

Man, I'm looking at 4 mics I am willing to part with in order to get it. Unfortunately it only gets me about half way there. Good start anyhow.

Hey drsax is that going through the built-in pre? By nature, it has to. I don't know why everyone is freaking out. Is an amplifier and amplifier if it's not amplifying?

I don't know why everyone is freaking out. Is an amplifier and amplifier if it's not amplifying? In that case I guess it would be a buffer. Haha. I guess the question is what is it plugged into?
