Why is it I see guys plugging this thing in clipping the console mic pre, and taking an hour to figure it out! I get it I love the concept but I was talking to a guy who was kind of interested but "What if I want it and the Neve pre sound" ever heard of a pad? There's a 10db PAD on the mic, however just turn down the gain to +4 and plug it into X external pre if you want, or blend between the mic and external pre. There's actually a lot of tonal possibility, between the gain, Norm, drive, and both voicings.

Yeah, you don't have to use the onboard pre.

You do have to use the onboard pre, true of every condenser. You can just set the gain so it is as a standard condenser rather than a line level output.

Of every condenser? Or just ones with built in pres? Isn't that just semantics really? Basically, the pre won't affect the sound unless you want it to, correct?

It's not semantics. Every condenser has a preamp. They don't work without it, and they all affect the sound. This mic lets you vary the gain of that preamp from typical lower gain mic level output to atypical line level output. Remember some modern Neumann LDC's put out line level when faced with loud sources.

these are making me glad I haven't bought a flea 47. I haven't heard a non remarkable piece of chandler gear yet. The only thing I don't care for is the internal light à la korby. Eh... no biggie.

The led was turned down quite a bit prior to shipping. Originally it was there to show it was on/active, however we also added a jewel light to the front of the PSU and relocated the power switch to the rear.

You guys working on any sound clips? I'd love to hear this mic next to some other classics, just to see where it falls in line at.

We do have a mono live acoustic gtr + vcl track captured during the listing evening at Ryan Hewitt's studio in Nashville, that we played during NAMM, that we'll post; hopefully this week. The mic is not a clone of any other microphone, it has its own sound.

I'd be really interested to hear the REDD next to a 47 and a 67. Hi John, I'll get the track we played during NAMM up this week hopefully. It's real simple, captured live in mono, male VCL + Acc gtr. Again, the mic isn't a clone of any mic, though we do feel it stands on par with the historic classics still in use at Abbey Road Studios.

Can't wait to hear you gas inducing feedback 🤠 just messin tonight but so far sounds friggin great on everything I've put in front of it.this is NOT a modern hypey mic.its got a classic vibe.big sweet and smooth. natural up top not unlike like my c37a's but kinda big like a 47 at the same time.gonna handle sibilant singers like a champ. first thing threw it out in front of some drums.sounded like the kit in the room but bigger/ better. its gonna be a killer mono drum mic.unless I get another.
