Is anyone coming up with new ways to compress things? What am I not getting?
Looks pretty, btw. My Rev D WA76 would have a beer with this blue stripe.

The Locomotive and Weight Tank offerings are new designs. I bet they're not flying off the shelves like these retreads though. Anyone know if Stam is hitting projected dates yet? When is the SA-87 due to hit? I'm at least semi interested in this, but not interested in waiting 10 months or whatever it took for the SA-4000.

Interested in their LA-3A creation since the originals are way over priced anywhere on the internet these days.
Never really was a fan of the 1176 - i owned pretty much every revision from blue to black to silver for many years.. but the LA-3a always floated my boat..

I have three of stam's LA3a's on order. I am thinking about this 76 also... but I have quite a few already. That being said, one cannot complain about an affordable Bluestripe!!! I'm just surprised I didn't get an email about it before news was released.

I did not inteend to release it, I just made one for a client and thought what the heck, Ill post a pic.
So yeah, it is quite cheap if you pre/order and you can expect the highest quality components on it, iincluding proper capacitors, transformers and an internal toroidal transformer.

Big fan of the Blue stripe sound. I know it's an old tool but it's a good one for me.

Steigers' FC526 is a different sounding take on the 1176 approach. The various PWM types of recent times are unique. The GML approach is highly nuanced, and the recently deceased Safe Sound comp appears to take a few ideas from the GML. Lots of dbx RMS type improvements coming from lots of different companies. Lots of modern updates to the old broadcast vari-mu standards.
The problem is more that people want those 'one, two (or three, or four...) comps found in every 1973 studio', not necessarily knowing anything about them OR what might serve better today.

Big fan of the Blue stripe sound. I know it's an old tool but it's a good one for me. Agree.I have clone made w/ NOS parts. sounds amazing on pretty much everything. the tonality is perfect for vocals and guitars. seem to use more than the original model D in the rack. I'm wondering about these Stams.dang cheap.

How do people characterise the sound difference between the d and blue stripe ? the Bluey is warmer has some hair to it but still great mid range vibe. on vocals it just works.seems I do less processing @ mix.always sounds like a record to me.

Yeah the Rev A circuit is a little more saturated, in a way that kind of smooths out a vocal, but still gives it that 1176 bite. It's also noisier and a little brighter. The Rev D is cleaner and to my ears lets more lows through.
They're definitely different animals. Both great in my opinion.

Yeah, i would agree the blue stripe is more agressive, warmer and fuzzy when cranked - as above, very easy to get a vocal to stand out.
I have a couple of different old units which are also good, if i hadn't of been offered 8,000 dollars for it (which is crazy), i wouldn't have sold it..
Hmmm... it's got me thinking about this Stam unit now..

Always wanted a pro replica blue stripe ever since Ward got his. Then roundbadge got his and both speak very highly and both opinion I respect when it comes to taste in gear.. I would love to hear an extensive shootout like jcoutu1 did with the big compressors thread awhile back... Eother way km sure the Stam will be successful and sound good as well..

I wish we hadn't have tipped off the dude from Pro replicas that he might get sued. It would have been cool to have with the UREI logo
