I ordered a pair of the Warbler 127 mics with cardioid flat capsules on Last Thursday and had them in hand by Monday night. I live on the East Coast of US. These mics are an exceptional value for the money. I tried them on acoustic guitar and they definitely have the KM84 vibe. I am extremely happy with them and will be buying more 3U audio products !

Ouch, I was looking at another page and accidentally switched here. I was thinking of Dave from AA mics. Time to slow down a bit I guess.
Welcome to the forum anyway audiohammer!

Martin John Butler,
Thanks for the welcome ! By the way, Dave Thomas from AA mics is a wealth of knowledge. I had the pleasure of speaking with him at Summer NAMM and we discussed some Trident TSM channels modules that I am restoring. Turns out he owned a Trident at his studio back in the day.
I modified an Apex 460 mic with his C12 mod kit and it sounds great ! Not sure what a Vintage C12 sounds like because I have never used one but the modded Apex sounds good enough for my uses.
Thanks!

And here are a couple of mono OH clips comparing the head amps. I only have a pair of each of the capsules so this is the only way I can do the same take with the different amps. I just picked my two fav capsules for drum OH (cardioid flat and omni flat) and had one of each on the Warbler 127 and CM100 (transformerless).

The 127 Flat capsules are gorgeous. Can you get the capsules and mic bodies separate?
I'd love to be ITB with tracks I might have to thin out to fit the mix.

These mics look pretty iconic. I'm holding out for the transformer pair, but here's the pricing list- copied over from the purple site: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The CM100 series SDC mics will be available next month. They have low cut and pad switches. The CM100 is a little warmer than GZ74. The CM100-C is a little more airy than GZ74 cardioid. The CM100-O-Flat has flatter top end than CM100-O. I hope it works well on pipe organ, and grand piano. Below are SDC mic and selectable capsule (ship with mic together) price with free express shipping arriving in one week in normal conditions. CM100-C US$179 CM100-H US$189 CM100-O US$189 CM100-O-Flat US$199 Cardioid capsule US$80 Hypercardioid capsule US$90 Omni capsule US$90 Omni-Flat capsule US$100 Little bit confused which one is close to a KM 184? Do they sell matched pairs as well? Cheers Holmes.... Why would you want something like a 184? Those are widely viewed as one of Neumann's dogs.

I'd very much like to know which are considered closest to Neumann KM84s though, and how close are they?

Hermetech Mastering, if you want something like a KM84, try the Soyuz 0-13. I personally chose it every time over the 84's I had on loan.

Yeah the transformer-coupled Warbler 127 with the cardioid flat capsule is the combo he intended to get closest to the KM84. I don't have an 84 here to compare unfortunately but I'll rent one at some point and do a shootout.

Thanks guys, shot 3U an email to see how much a single or pair of the Warbler 127-C-Flat would be to me in Paris. The Soyuz SU-013 looks lovely too, am presuming a lot more pricey though?

Hermetech, th Soyuz 0-13 is $600, $1195 for a pair.
The 184 sounds fine, it's just disappointing if you have a KM84 to compare though. The low end's missing something in comparison.

we have an 84 and a pair of 184's at the studio and I notice the top end to be a bit crispy on the 184 in comparison. Still useable depending on the source, but it takes more work after the fact. ymmv etc. etc.
