I just picked up something cool the other day from a former karaoke and country singer. It's an Ibanez AD 150 analog delay and it's pretty cool. Dark, kind of gritty, and capable of sounding really bad. But it can also sound REALLY cool. Some great slap delays are pretty easy and cool out of it. I think my favorite thing I've heard from it so far is putting a snare drum through it and lighting up the front end really hard. It distorted in such a cool damn way, I just might start printing a parallel track of my snares clipped with it. http://instagram.com/p/BJ5lIESAHAB There's a link to my Instagram because I'm on mobile right now and I'm not seeing a good way to upload a photo.

Agreed NoFilterChuck - The Eventide H9 is amazing. Setting up my pedal board with two this week (H9 Max & H9 Core) and they will double as outboard effects when I mix as well. Maybe the biggest bang for the buck that I've seen in years - not to mention the cool factor with the iOS Bluetooth control. It doesn't just sound good for something that is cheap. It's really high quality sounding period. That's exactly what I did. picked up a Max store demo and a Core used. snagged 'em for just over $800, too!! They sound amazing, and are super fun to tweak.

Can you guys explain how this works please. What's the difference between a "Max" and a "Core".

I am just working from vague memory but I think the "max" comes with every algorithm. The H9 is kind of like UAD, you have to buy the programs individually.

Thanks Chuck, monkeyxx. How much do the individual downloads cost? I couldn't find a price list.

Algorithms are $20 each. So, find a used MAX and then a core, cuz otherwise you gotta spend $20x30 to "max out" a core. But if you already have a max, you can add the core to the account and they both will have access to all the algorithms.

Got it, thanks Chuck.
Still unsure why you need two though. Is it just to have live capability of having two different effects running?

Yes. The pedal can only run one algorithm at a time

Still seems very cool if you can afford it. I'm not much of a guitar pedal user, but I may look at finding one multi-effect pedal for electric guitar down the road, but I sure wouldn't mind having the Eventide too, it really sounds good.
How does it work when set up as a hardware reverb in a DAW? Does it work the same way as any good stereo reverb, like a Lexicon PCM, Bricasti? Do you feel like it's a challenger to those holy grail reverbs? Is it noisy, latency issues?, etc.
Even if it's a long way down the road, I like to imagine I'm working toward having a complete hybrid system. Eventually, I'd love to have a Dangerous summing mixer, a Bricasti and another Warm Audio EQP-1A, then a Stam SSL compressor to complete my mixdown chain, but if the Eventide can stand up to the Bricasti, well, that's a lot less expensive than a Bricasti, so why not ;-)

it sounds amazing. works just like any other outboard reverb. pump signal out, get signal back in.

Cool, thanks Chuck. With my non-existant budget, perhaps this will be my hardware reverb solution in time. Even though I must say, plugin reverbs like the Relab and Exponential sound great, I just want one of everything in hardware, don't ask me why, I can't give a sensible answer.

Stereo pair plus a single channel.

A stereo pair of everything sounds even better, but right now, I just want a complete analogue signal chain, mixdown outboard is further up the road, but I like to fantasize about it.
Today: Dizengoff D4 . WA2A > WA76 >EQP-1A > Apollo silver Duo > non-thunderbolt 2009 mac/Logic X
"Tomorrow": RTZ 9762 > WA2A > WA76 > EQP-1A > Eventide H9? > Blackface Apollo > late model Mac Mini
"further on down the road": RTZ 9762, WA2A, WA76 , EQP-1A X 2, Bricasti or H9, Stam SSL 2 bus compressor > Dangerous music 2 Bus +> Apollo (16?),

If we didn't fantasize about this stuff constantly we'd probably stop buying, haha. I think it's a healthy obsession. Keeps things interesting in the creative world.
I find myself planning and scheming for projects that don't exist, just because "what if," haha. I'm just surprised by how much stuff I actually use when I have it. Same as workshop tools, you get a new one and it finds a place quickly more often than not.
I've just spent the last 3 days or so dialing in my new computer, and it's getting pretty powerful. I love learning how to do new things. Some of the Eventide plugins are also great, by the way. I own UltraReverb and UltraChannel and they both sound unique and great. That is my first little taste of Eventide and it tastes good.

if you want to hear some of the delays and reverbs from this pedal, check out this vid here that I put together to help myself figure out if I should change my alto.

Jeez that sounds amazing Chuck, you had me at "A". Holy cow, no wonder you want two of these. That sounds different than the Relab I use, and in a better way. The UAD EMT 140 has a great vibe too, but it's often too thick. This thing sounds like Monk live in San Francisco, just stunning.
Is it possible to integrate these to show up in a DAW on a bus? I'd love to use this as the main reverb on all the tracks of a song. I'd also love to be able to use the delay on a bus.
Now I know who I'm calling if I ever need a sax, yikes, that's bad ass Chuck.

Thanks, martin! sure, just use the I/O plugin in the Utilities sub-folder. The same way you'd use any other piece of outboard gear on a bus.

Sorry if this is already covered but they have a plugin too. Hey Chuck, maybe you can download he demo and compare for us?

The only plugin I saw that might be included in the pedal was the BlackHole plugin. is that what you're talking about? That is just an algorithm from this pedal: www.eventideaudio.com/products/stompboxes/reverb/space
