Actually, John, Shure has just engineered a new Dual-Dyne (tm) capsule for their KSM8 that minimizes proximity effect. I would love to get me hands on one.

Yeah, I have seen the PR announcement of their new technology, but I haven't seen an actual mic. It could be that I'm just dense, but the explanation of how the thing is supposed to work didn't seem to make a lot of sense to me. We shall see, I guess.

Most of the time I keep mine flat.
How do you like to set the switches?
cheers, Geoff

The only time I use the switches is when I jam it up against the grille of an amp for a solo guitar that needs both--which makes it sound like a "better 57".

I always engaged both switches for vocals

I might engage one or both for BGV's, never have on a lead vocal.

I have mine engaged all the time for vocals.
I am pretty sure I read that having them engaged is actually how the mic was designed to be. So, if the switches are set flat, that is actually engaging the filters into the circuit. Can anyone confirm that?

Not by the schem if i recall. Correct. The schematic clearly shows the switches engage 'filters'.
