thanks for the valuable information. i was confused about woody too, im guessing it means natural sounding, who knows i went to your soundcloud.. you have any tracks on there you using the stam 1073, or helios re-issue on vocals that i can check out? Most of those first 7-8 were the Stam...but by the time you fit everything in the mix - a dense mix - the preamp is kind’ve six of one half dozen the other in my opinion. If the pre is thick and doesn’t futz up the top end I’m good. Check out Angry Right Now on my reverbnation page. That’s a Helios vocal that sounds great. Incredible considering the price point. Very tight and polished.. Im sure it's dependent on great mixing too.. angry right now sounds excellent too. are you using helios on guitars too? hope stam can pull the helios same way they did with 73. lol im gona end up spending all this money.. whats rest of your vocal chain like?

I have a pair of the Stam 1073EQ's with Sowters and don't really use the DI since I come in from a direct box to the XLR back in that application, but I sold my Vintech X73i after getting these and liking them better. While the wait can be hard, and the sonics for the price point is part of the trade off I suppose. It was worth the wait for me.

Did I hear correctly somewhere that Josh was working on a new version of the MPA?
I'd love to have a MPA with the Sowters, but the lack of a line in is a turn off. Alternatively, there are the 500 series ones that Stam makes but, again, there is no line in option.
Maybe the new one will have a line in option? Josh?

I have 1073-5 from Stam now, and i use it to process line level sources as well - reamp bass guitar, vocals etc through the Stam 1073-5. You would need to do some gain staging, but otherwise it is like any other line level processor. 1073-5 can do amazing things especially to bass guitar! +1
