Thanks for the hard work, Langston!
I got the email with pics and an update on the invoicing date- which is coming soon!
Just a heads up to other RGO folks- the note went directly to my "promotions" folder in gmail, which is where a lot of spam also tends to go. Keep an eye out for it.

Some sweet photos of the final production model of Zulu Desktop. Its REEL. mrholmesThat baby came in at weighing ~5lbs. The tape opamp alone is about a 1lb after the potting process takes hold. She's a Brick......House. BTW not too late for those of you who like the idea of a $400 pricetag that you have the opportunity to buy a 2nd Zulu @ this price. Just thought I'd share that info. Invoices start Monday February 6th, 2017. Thanks -L.

We're samples ever posted of the Zulu attempt at emulating the Ampex sound? If so, I never saw them.

Oh, and would it be possible to have an 8 channel rack where two of the channels have the previously mentioned Deluxe (active) circuitry and the other 6 channels have the passive circuitry? Or do all 8 channels have to be one or the other? I ask because I'd like to be able to use all 8 channels during tracking and then also use the two Deluxe channels on the 2bus during mixdown.

Quint, Our modular system will have enough slots (8) for up to 16 tracking version channels (2 channels per slot) or up to 2 double wide Deluxe units (same as desktop format with full range controls) and 4 tracking units for 12 channels total. You could get a deluxe and 3 tracking units which would make for 8 channels total or a Deluxe and 4 tracking units for 10 channels total. You would have room for a spare Zulu tracking module or the Oxtail unit I'm developing. Thanks -L.

We're samples ever posted of the Zulu attempt at emulating the Ampex sound? If so, I never saw them. I have to upload the final attempts. Ill get the drive link up. The Ampex 440 emu felt near perfect to be honest, the Ampex MM1000 was a slight touch less bright ~8k @ 1db and was bassier at 100hz @ 1db. I would like to shoot out the MM1000 again, I think Noah mentioned the channels he used were underbiased?? So the top end was a bit extra. Otherwise it was some amazing sounding stuff happening there! Thanks -L.

I'm mostly interested in an 8 or maybe 16 channel passive rack (depending on price?) but I might be interested in having a stereo pair of Deluxe in there. I didn't realize that the Deluxe was double wide? So to be clear, 8 channels, of which two channels are the Deluxe, would take up a total of 5 of 8 available stereo slots since the Deluxe are double wide. Hence, the max of 12 channels if I wanted to include one Deluxe stereo? Wait, wouldn't only ONE Deluxe take up only one additional slot? You should be able to get one Deluxe in two slots plus 6 passives for a total of 14 channels, right? I'm confused?

I didn't realize that the Deluxe was double wide? Smaller controls and range on the non Deluxe module. Deluxe module will be the same platform as Zulu desktop with full size controls and range. The modular system will feature its own proprietary chassis and obviously modules. To fit all the features and controls on the faceplate required a larger RU height so we clocked in at 4U. Deluxe will offer full range controls and full size controls. Tracking modules will utilize fewer settings per variable controls (Bias and Enhance) and utilize smaller rotaries and knobs. Tracking modules will clock in at $400 each, it will offer 2 channels. Deluxe (double wide) module will be $650 it will offer 2 channels. Deluxe will be our "rack," version of Zulu. Chassis will be $350. Feature enough spaces for up to 16 channels of Zulu or future Handsome Audio products, along with our genuine Neutrik IO. Adding modules will require knowledge of how to use a screw driver, hand tightening two small M3 nuts over two bolts and the connection of two small flat ribbon cables with keyed connectors, similar to hooking up an internal hard drive. This allows customers to upgrade as they go, regardless of their location on the planet. No need to send a unit back for upgrades, tech free installation, solder free upgrades To get a 16 channel Zulu our street price will be $3500. However, as you can tell, one could very easily start with a chassis, a single module, so $750 or $1000 depending on where you start your journey and fill their bucket as they go! Thanks -L.

Deluxe in this context is a full featured passive Zulu. I'm currently still researching an active version but I have yet to beat the passive version to be honest. I may have some tricks up my sleeve though Thanks -L.

So the rack will be 4U tall? I thought it was going to be 3U tall? Or is the 4U height only necessary if I want to have a Deluxe in there? If I went ONLY with tracking modules would it only be 3U tall? Or am I assuming correctly that there will be only one rack size? So to be clear, if I had only ONE Deluxe stereo, that would take up two slots which would leave 6 slots available for tracking modules. That would be a total of 14 channels, right? So an 8 channel tracker would be $1950, a 16 channel tracker would be $3550, an 8 channel with one Deluxe (3 trackers and 1 Deluxe) would be $2200 and 14 channels with one Deluxe (6 trackers and 1 Deluxe) would be $3400? Is that right? Is there a discount for buying multiple channels at once? Will there be an intro price for the rack version? I really like that this is modular so that I can start with two or four channels and slowly add capacity. Cool.

Is that right? 3U per our layout and range of controls was far too tight vertically and electronically. By adopting 4U it opened up tons of room for people with bigger fingers, larger font and visibility. Regardless of module choice youre talking 4U. If you buy a fully loaded package of 16 tracking channels, its $3500. Regarding the math for the other configurations, its just pure math. Your numbers look accurate otherwise. There is no requirement btw to purchase any preset number of modules when you first start, so if you buy just the Handsome Audio chassis one month and decide to grab a module the following month, that's cool with us! To clarify this is still a passive system we are discussing. Thanks -L.

I should have been saying Deluxe and tracking modules or "tracker". I'll go back and correct my previous post so that there's no confusion. I'm still looking forward to hearing those Ampex comparisons...

Quint we built the discount into the module pricing Those Zulu M modules will feature the same signature sound of Zulu for $400 ($200 a channel). Remember Zulu desktop's real price is $750, not $400 which is the promotional pricing for our faithful pre-order participants. We will offer a promotional price via our pre-order system for the modules for the rack system. When we get closer to collecting pre orders for the modular system, I'll discuss the promo pricing. Thanks -L.

Looking forward to trying the Zulu on my next mix, if it all works out! - M We are giving the invoice recipients 10 business days to make their payment, plus that gives us time to prepare all of these units for shipment. We are working around that time frame to begin shipment for USA, Canadian and Australian distribution. EU invoices and the remainder of global invoices will be sent out shortly. Thanks -L.
