Great work Indie! Room looks awesome. I like the desk. Where did you get it or did you build that one too?

I got my Vox AC30HW today.
Too much bullshit going on around me, but initial impressions are very positive.

A client gave me a 50' strand of outdoor LEDs from Costco for X-mas and I just hung it up in the tracking room. Hadn't liked previous LED attempts but these look fantastic with a warm, soft incandescent-like "filament." Girlfriend brought home a pair of padded, hydraulic stools for a breakfast nook, but decided she liked my "amp stand" stools from Ikea that were in the tracking room better so we swapped. The hydraulic stools are super comfy for playing guitar with built-in foot rests so we're both happy. I wanted yet another Plug-in Boutique give-away license, the AAS Session Bundle, so I bought SONiVOX Tony Coleman Drums for $17 and actually really like it. Nice samples done at Ardent to tape. It came with their Session Drums 1 Single also, which is weak by comparison, bad bundle choice. Installed Acustica's free plug-ins as well, the Ceil channel strip and Tan bus comp, still toying with them. Oh, ordered a StamChild too, cause those are fun to have around.

Thanks for the tip! I'm not really sure how I feel about the Acustica compressors in general. They all just sound wrong to me. The EQ is a little more to my interest I guess.

Just got the Fractal Audio Axe FX III added to the rack. Very impressed. I've owned the original and the AXE II, but this one is really a jump forward in my opinion. Very easy and intuitive to use and the sound is great from the Fenders, Boogies, Marshalls, Friedmans, etc. Never thought I would do it but I actually sold my Kemper after spending some time with this. The I/O options are amazing and the recording options are also great, 8x8 USB at 48K, SPDIF at 48K, or analog.

Yeah that mahogany looking stain is gorgeous, nice work. My shabby SKB racks are jealous.

I picked up a 90's 62 reissue American P-bass. Needed a good bit of TLC and setup work which is probably why it was so cheap but what a great playing bass. Already provided a great variety of sound with the rounds it had on it when compared to my modern P-bass, even better when I changed it to flats.

After it came up in multiple threads here on RGO with at least a dozen engineers here who work in Jazz and classical recommended it to me I recently found a deal on a TLM 170i. Looked a little beat up, but came from a dealer with a return policy, so I picked it up, because the price was right. It arrives tomorrow. I'm hoping to put it through it's paces over the next few days and comprise my thoughts on it. My voice is a little wonky from a bought with bronchitis, but I'll still see how thing thing sounds next to my FleA 49 and U87ai. Should be fun.

I'm gonna try the Lindell 510 MK II rack on Saturday...
Sent back two Midas L6 both had the same noise problem... seems like a bad design
This is my main tracking rack, it has to be perfect.

I also have the KT EQP-KT I know you don't like those much but I find it to be fairly useful, although I'd like to upgrade to an AML kit.

I've got a full board of Midas eq (as you know), but these 500 series look good with the Q control on all bands. Build seems really good too. I think there going to be great for sculpting kick and snare on the way in. Looking forward to trying them out.

Kick, Snare, Bass, Electric Guitar, Synthesizer the Midas 512 is great for sound sculpting, that is its forte. You can transform the tone of something. It's not a vocal vibe EQ or something like that but it doesn't need to be, I've got other things for that.

I’ve heard that is the preferred version and it’s a very neutral sounding mic to begin with.

Found a deal on a barely used Zoom F8n, checking it out for some upcoming remotes. It's definitely one of those tiny miracle laden boxes that creates unreasonable expectations like “Why doesn’t it fold my laundry!?!?!”

A sound devices Mixpre10 isn't that much more expensive and sounds WAY better.

I might send mine back too. Or just resell it as I got it so darn cheap. My L10 has noise too. I have a Lindell MK1. Its rock solid. The MKII just looks like it has better IO and external psu. Looks very nice. I think you'll be happy with it.

Suck major ass compared to what else? I know we have one other member running a pair of F8's for remotes with no sonic complaints.

Compared to a sounddevices haha They are a dark dull sounding mic preamp and converters. But if you're doing Voice stuff it'll be fine. Music..would not go for it. We use it as a back up and granted there is no way they can compare to our Grace preamps and the Grace converters but it is astonishing how bad they are compared to the Grace stuff. Really its not even the mic pre we use that for its getting a line out from the Grace preamp. And it still sucks. haha We have a Mixpre10T and and Mixpre3. Plus We had a 788T for a long time too. Still don't like them for music stuff as they can be noisy at high gain. But they are much much better than the Zoom stuff. Full disclosure, im using my stuff for classical music. So high clean gain is really important to me. For a rock band in a club, I doubt the F8 will suck. But it won't be great either. It does have some nice features for when you're using it. And some that are annoying. But what doesn't? Id still take the Mixpre10 any day over the F8.

Definitely plenty of classical guys using F8's and F4's.
I'll compare against the DR-701D I've been using, which has sounded just fine.
