My Clarett OctoPre showed up today, with no warning. I'm a big fan of the whole Clarett line.
I ordered a b-stock from Alto Music and they sent me a brand new one instead for some reason.
Still waiting on lightpipe and BNC/coax cables to hook it into the rig.
This is going to give me enough channels for... HYBRID MIXING!!!! 8 channels of AD/DA loops for cubase inserts. I will have to work at 48K projects now, instead of 96.
my mixing hardware has been getting a little dusty.

Grabbed a TK Audio BC1-S locally at a good price. Going to throw it on a mix tomorrow. Lot of great features and well built for the money!

It was a Standard that I bought at Sam Ash in The Green Acres Mall for $350.

Bill Bottrell was big into them. That’s how I came to know of them.

That will likely be drumbus duty. This will probably live on the master bus. Need to buy new converters next to expand the io

I got a 20" K Ride cymbal... it does exactly what I was hoping it would do! Just a perfect all around cymbal, where my Ping Ride and Organic Ride have much more specific sounds and uses.
I also got Waves Flow Motion synth and PRS guitar amp collection. Price was about $25 each, which is absurd.
Initial results are positive. Flow Motion seems geared to sequences and arpeggios which is different from what I'm used to, I'll have to learn it more. I just bought it because it's an FM synth and I love FM.
PRS amp sims... all three have unique tones, as expected. I'm getting good sounds. One caveat is when I loaded in an Own Hammer impulse response, the sound quality improved drastically. The stock IR are a little on the dark side in general.
But this is up there with Bias, and my UAD sims. Easily as good as those in a general sense. I feel like I'm covered on amp sims now.
Going back to the Clarett OctoPre I just finished installing. I did my first hybrid mix today and the sound quality was great! It does seem a small step above ITB, although I will still be using ITB. I do too many recalls to completely devote to hybrid mixing. It's funny that I did a "hardware" mix with the software amp sims.
