Don't you guys know the "plectrons" go where all picks go, to hang with the socks that went missing. Mystery #1: Why, after months of solid service, does my preamp breakdown the very day I get $5,500 worth of world class microphones to try for a week. This is not a mystery; this is Murphy's LawMystery #2: Why is the scratch vocal you didn't give a damn about, so you barely checked any levels, warmed up tubes, compressors, gain stage, etc. 50% of the time the keeper? The corollary to this is the take you didn't give a damn about because you were using it to try to get levels.Mystery #3 Why, when I go back to a mix to tweak a little, do I almost automatically hit save, before remembering I needed to save it as an alternate, because I might decide I like the mix the way it was, and as you all know, you can never get it back. In my case it's just the way I roll. It's all about commitment. I never save alternates; I pick a road and start driving. It's worked for my marriage, so why not my music? The rear view mirror is for memories.

Big mystery for me: Why did my bridge pickup on my jazzmaster crap out just before Christmas and the day I sat down to resolder it did it magically spring to life?

+100 on the plectrons. I bought 6 of these red copies of the dean markley .73's. Fantastic grip on them, never dropped one. Now I'm down to 2. The studio ate the other 4....
