Logic does seem to have the whole package. Wish I could get used to it.

meh. I wish I could learn ProTools or Cubase, as they're way more suited towards Post production. Logic is mainly a composition tool....

Thanks for the heads up Chuck. Enormous list of updates.
As far as stacking up with PT, I still miss some of the intuitive editing features of PT but there's nothing that PT can do that Logic can't - at least for my needs. Also, Logic's stock plugins are really, really good. A step up from PT for sure.

The grass is always greener but IMHO Logic smokes PT I was a PT user for over 8 years haven't found anything you cannot do with logic that pt could do.

I think this is a fair point - As someone who has switched from PT to Logic, it certainly resonates with me. I'm much more interested in the composition end of things, and Logic suites my work-flow much better. However, if and when I ever manage to bring something I'm working on up to a point where I feel it's ready for mastering, I don't doubt I'll be farming it out to someone who's not using Logic. Does anybody master with Logic?

Does anybody master with Logic? Do you mean mastering yourself or send it to a mastering engineer? If you're sending it to an ME then all they need is the stereo .wav (or .aiff whatever you use) of the track. They won't need the entire session. You can use any platform you like.

I got logic about 2 weeks ago after only using Pro tools for 5-7 years. I was mainly interested in the drummer feature to support my song creation. Logic seems to be well featured but I sure wish it didn't look so much like garage band to me Early days still. I agree the plug in suite seems very good and drummer is quite versatile but you need to do a fair bit of cutting using the scissors function to really finetune things. AS I learn Logic, I do feel that I will probably migrate to using it to develop my songs: best to learn by doing.

That is a huge list! The Music Memo thing is pretty cool to. I love Logic for composition.

Basically, anything you put on the 2-buss is mastering, right? If I want to give anything to an ME, I'm under the impression that I'm best off putting nothing on the 2-buss, and from what I glean from my on-line reading, leaving a good amount of headroom - but how much? -6dBFS, .. -12? I pulled those numbers out of a hat, but come to think of it, for the most part when my 2 buss on Logic is empty, peaks tend to be somewhere between -6 and -12.

Go right ahead and put anything that affects overall balance on the 2 buss. Mix into it because that's where you have control. Mastering should be like detailing a car as opposed to painting it.
