Hey q2audio - can you post a pic of the 500 series? I added one as an attachment. Not sure what it will look like. To answer other questions: the expander is not included in the F765. In order it fit it in a single slot something had to go (unfortunately). The expected pricing should be right around $1000.

I TOTALLY missed this at the show. Really bummed. I want one. We were right by the drums. Everyone avoided us! It was so loud that we could barely talk due to unprofessional first timers (at NAMM) it would appear. Absolutely no respect for other vendors. I won't name names, but I sure want to.

KMR London got delivery of three units yesterday. Two were left today. £ is low. VAT still excluded until Brexit kicks in. Could not resist..

What does a Compex sound like on vocals?

Joseph,
I recently uploaded a video that demos the Compex on acoustic guitar, vocals, bass and piano. The vocal solos with and without compression. We did not do any heavy handed compression or limiting on the guitar, vocal or bass. The only thing we squashed was the piano (for effect). In the description is a link to the compressed and uncompressed files up on soundcloud. They may not be normalized, but you can download and listen to them on a good system to compare. I hope you like it.

Curious what you'll think Randy. My pair arrived yesterday which was the 1st day of my holiday trip, so I've got something nice waiting for me when I get back :-)

Running it it through the paces tonight! How did it go? It sounds great! Definitely an edgy and tough comp. Probably not a comp I would use on a vocal, unless it was a soft singer who really needs to sound edgy, but I can see this being a staple on drums and electric guitars to do the Compex thing. I will pick up another for a stereo pair soon.

It's that swishy, sucky, (in a good way) Zep thing, right? How does it sound in more modest doses?

It's that swishy, sucky, (in a good way) Zep thing, right? How does it sound in more modest doses? Plenty of attack and punch at -4 for me on acoustic and electric gtr. It sounded amazing on a room mic I first threw it on and crushed heavily. Brings out the room around the source really well, so be sure you have the mic and treatments where you want them at tracking to get exactly what you want. I think that hard hitting stuff it's best source material, but it's very versatile if you are good with just a couple db's of compression and understand that aspect.
