Are there many multi instrumentalists here? I've been playing Bass for 29 years, Keyboards and Guitar for 15 years, Drums for 3 years and I'm a novice on Mandolin. I want to take lessons for Mandolin, Banjo and Violin. I've been using the tutorial videos for Guitar and Mandolin on Ben Clarks website, they're pretty useful.

Bassist and drummer. Drums for 18, bass for 15. Gigged mostly as a drummer.Loud original rock and country bands. Covers of classic rock, blues, country, and current dance/pop. Went to college for bass and have played some rock and stuff, but mainly jazz.
Bang around on a guitar a little, but wouldn't say I play. Took some lessons on keys and vibes, also not a player. Know a few uke chords too.

Dance/Pop seems to be the next popular genre here on the Cape. The young people that make up most of the bar goers don't seem to care for the guitar driven rock any more. Country is getting bigger up here so that's where I'm going! I'm also recording some original dance/dubstep type stuff for DJ's

The crowds really dug the dance/pop that we were doing. Booking the venues that pay and have patrons is more of a challenge. Central Mass isn't a booming bar scene. We played a couple Boston gigs, but that comes with the added hassle of driving in/out and parking.

I used to do the Boston scene, and surrounding towns like Revere and Saugus, didn't care for it that much. The people seemed pretty dry..

Vocalist professionally for 15, Guitar professionally for nearly 20.
Unofficially, guitar since forever, bass (anytime im needed) drums (almost solid but not fancy), piano (screwin around).

Guitar for 12 years, Bass for 4 years (Nothing crazy), Trumpet for the last year and I can do some basic keys and drumwork.
Oh, I got a Kalimba 2 days ago so I guess I play that too!

Guitar. Bass (not like a guitarist  ) Sing Keys...which are all quite different despite having the same note layout--Hammond, Electric Piano, and I hack at acoustic piano like a singer Songwriter. For perspective, I'd say I play not unlike Jackson Browne--which is not terrible, but it's the piano equivalent of simple strumming. I tend to do better with EP and Hammond where it's more about sparse note choice and specific voicing/accents... It's funny. I don't think I've ever had a paid gig as a guitarist. I mean, I've done paid arrangement work that included some guitar...but, all my gigs tend to be bass or keyboards. And believe me--it's NOT that I'm better at them. It's that everyone plays guitar. |
