So, Jeff - not to put any pressure on you... , but can you tell us a little more about this? Your thoughts behind doing it? The status? Will it be pre-built only? (Not that I could do it any other way)...Will the console have transexuals...er, tranny's uilt in that act like the 528's? Am I giving you anxiety?

Me, too. I know it's still in the early stages, but I'm wondering apporximately how much the build will be. I know it will vary radically based on the configuration and I'm sure Jeff doesn't even know at this point. I'd love to put a 32 channel frame together with a center section dedicated to the DAW, a la Wes Lachot's API 1608. I think that would be the perfect setup for me. Maybe I can figure out how to shove some DAW control into the center section... I love the VP28s, but this thing makes me want to keep building VP26s to get a head start!

It would REALLY be filling a hole in the market.

I'm just gonna punch myself in the face every 30 seconds until I get one of these. It hurts less than waiting and gets my mind off of how much I'm jonseing for it.

I think this could well be one of the most significant forthcoming releases in the pro audio world.

Hopefully the price will be nowhere near the Ocean Audio Ark.

I have no idea what the price point would be for something like that. I know I can't afford the RND thingy that just came out. It's got tons of work poured in it, but hopefully it won't be cost prohibitive. These guys deserve to be compensated for what they're doing - it's just a matter of whether the pricing can reach the target market...And that brings up the question - just who is the target market? It's absolutely geared towards the advanced engineer/musician - it could be the one stop solution for advanced home recordists and professionals...but I would imagine all the framework, and whatever other witchcraft goes into it is costly...and then he's got to price it to make it worth his time. That's probably why there's nothing else out there like it.

I suppose the target market is smaller pro setups and home studios who are looking very carefully at cost. The beauty of this design is the ability to tailor it to your needs.
The real clincher though is knowing that it is designed by Jeff Steiger who has an array of astonishingly great products that stand side by side, on a par with the very biggest and best names AND at very reasonable prices!!!!!
Genius.

I've talked to so many techs and designers about an idea like it and yeah, they all say the same thing...that kind if thing is expensive and hard to make money on. The people who want/need it can't afford it. I'm sure it'll find it's niche... It's so cool...

I really enjoy building audio gear, and I would really enjoy putting together an entire console over time and ending up with something truly to be proud of - something that would sound as good as anything I've ever used. And, I wouldn't need to pay for it all at once, so it would be doable. Looking forward to it! By the way, the website does have some console-related stuff live. You can buy some of the metalwork and backplane PCBs.

I emailed Jeff the other day, too far off for a price point. I want an 8 channel with 2 stereo busses. That would be killer for me.
NO I DON'T WANT IT NO. I sold ALL my outboard. I like digital stuff and I DON'T WANT IT.

To add to this, there's no such thing as free lunch. I hate to start with numbers but this isn't going to be cheap by any means. The cheapest usable console is the toft so this should be more than those.

Yeah - I think it's kinda taken on mythical status, so there's a little pressure involved. And it's a complicated thing...I probably shouldn't have opened the can of worms...

I doubt it's a can of worms it's not under lock and key and I don't want to burst anyone's hopes but even the 8 channel one I can't see it being under 15k and by comparison that's a very good price point.

This thing is a going to be a serious piece, for people who want a serious rig, it should be costly, i just hope its not an API console price! and Jordan, jeez man, we are all well aware, you like it in the box!

I do like the box but that does not mean I don't like analog gear! I'm merely yelling at myself on this forum. There's a devil on my shoulder.

I'm curious, what kind of board, used or new, would be a step up from a Toft, but still not crazy money?

Martin John Butler if I had to guess probably nothing. From what I've heard the Toft is a pretty good desk but has some headroom issues that I've also heard are easily modded for better performance.
