Literally every site does the same. Your browser does the same. Your OS does the same. SIRI, Alexa and OK google are always listening and logging what you say. Samsung had TVs that would log your voice commands and other keywords. Not to mention EVERY social site does this. That's their singular purpose and their business strategy, to make money off you by selling your info. I'm not sure why anyone is surprised these days.. You have to click OK on the agreements to use any of these sites.. You do read the terms of agreement before clicking OK, right? Right? Yeah, I’m sure Proboards does it to an extent. But I don’t. Because of high moral standards (or I wouldn’t know how.) This is why I need one of you young whippersnappers to partner with to make us the new Gearwhores. Man I thought we made a deal where we were going to split the money from selling my data😁 to bad streaming royalties are as profitable.

I never use Slutz Space anymore. Only on rare occasions regarding an old thread. All those facebook posts asking questions about every silly thing are actually used by hackers to eventually figure you out. I don't answer any of them now, no matter how tempting it might be.

I wonder how often 3 parties who bought data from the people who bought the data from GS though they were dealing with a bunch of porn ado it’s because everybody was spending time on a site with slutz in the name🤔 Haha...I love this! They're expecting models of member's interest in fishnet stockings, dildos, and lube.....and they get preamps, preamps and some more preamps.

Well we do mate male and female frequently, mics are quite phallic and we can’t forget on old tape machines the playback head was referred to as the reproduce head. New RGO slogan idea: We record, therefore we must reproduce!

I suspect it's in response to a British version of the new EU law requiring transparency. It's important to understand that there is absolutely no such thing as privacy on the internet. We're all walking down main street. Oh Great beard of audio Knowledge, what is the privacy you speak of ? Tell us a story of yore! If I told you, I'd have to...

Oh no!! The internet knows that I am looking at Daking Compressors, Iron Age, Serrano, LTL, and Audioscape gear. I would happily tell you that anyway. Oh, I also look to see if there is a kitten or puppy that needs rescuing.

"My data". That language may be causing unnecessary concern. Maybe it's not my data. Maybe it's their data about me. I still don't see the harm in it...

No, no harm. I just don't want them selling - which is what 'sharing' really means - and making a shitload of money with my data. Cut me in and we can talk again.

Looks like most do not understand this really, but here what tech is doing: Everything we do has a time stamp, and often there’s geographic info attached. Everything we type has potential keyword data that can be mined. Small sites can’t do much with this except brag and maybe sell to someone else. There are large fish using AI to study us under a microscope so that they can predict us like a weatherman. They call it “big data”, too much for any human to sort through. So they throw billions on massive automated computers.. remember IBM Watson on Jeopardy? That was a long time ago but that’s the kind of AI they are working on. Why? So they can game us, just like a casino takes advantage of our dumb psychology. That’s the hope anyway. So then they figure out Christopher fights most often with his wife on Sunday nights, and goes online to escape and happens to spend a little looser, usually booze.. that’s when the targeted ads can come. Eventually this will be what they sell ad space for, directly to people who are feeling a little irresponsible in their wallet. So instead of waiting for Friday to get the Audioscape76.. maybe they get bombarded by Uli and grab a pair of KT76

I doubt they're making more than pennies from data about any single user. Go ahead and cut me in though!

So instead of waiting for Friday to get the Audioscape76.. maybe they get bombarded by Uli and grab a pair of KT76 And it goes well beyond this! Social Engineering is cyber warfare's big gun. It's not what you're interested in, but how you express yourself. Models of your patterns-of-life, cognitive states, limits, vulnerabilities, etc. can easily be built based on what you type (i.e., the actual words you use) into a forum. Once the adversary has a cognitive model of you they can use it to exploit you, driving you down a slippery slope of decisions that help them attain their goal -- unbeknownst to you!
The bottom line: everything you do online reveals aspects of you that can be used against you, your family, your employment, and your country.
