There are lots of talented people on RGO so it would be great to hear some broader links like discography pages, a few different projects, etc, specifically on Bandcamp. If you are an artist, post your main page discography. If you are a songwriter, session player, or engineer, etc, maybe post some of your favorite projects. Can skip the rest of this post if that's enough info for you. ... I am convinced that Bandcamp is the way to go for small-timers like me. It ticks all the boxes. Even some bigger players are using it. Dischord Records, a hugely popular independent label, recently moved their entire catalog to Bandcamp. From what I've heard, supposedly from the inside, is they may not even have so much use for their own web store any longer. People can listen for free, people can buy your digital downloads in high res for a price that you name, and you can sell merch and physical albums also. There are some fees but IMO they are reasonable, when people purchase only. It's free to use otherwise. When you sell it's roughly like selling on eBay or Reverb regarding the tariff. I like the idea of someone coming to my individual place for my music, not some faceless playlist. Also I like the idea of people owning high quality copies of my music, not 192 kbps compressed, normalized audio that comes from inside a paywall. If you already have a few fans, chances are there will be some sales. At least there have been, for me. Used to think it was sort of punk/metal centric, but I don't think that any more. I've seen plenty of Americana, Country, Bluegrass, Folk, Electronic, Pop, and so on within bandcamp. Just discovered Molly Tuttle from Nashville on YouTube and heard her records for the first time on Bandcamp. She also streams as expected for someone of that status. ... Anyhow, I'll start off with my link, which is in my signature already: danwiley.bandcamp.comSpecial Guest is a jazz-fusion-rock-free kind of band, recently remastered and expanded. Letters In The Sea is a Florida style emotional Indie Rock band Prideland Voyagers Club was the most recent band, "Sounds like Pavement," is what people said usually at shows. Most of those recordings are my own solo and half-staff band though, the full band was never properly captured. Pop/Rock or something, some ballads. All the rest is my solo stuff from over the years which is stylistically all over the place. People tend to think it's strange or experimental, notice that mistakes are left in rather than corrected, usually hone in on specific songs they like. Another one of these is coming soon. Enough about me, post em if you got em!

This is the last album we produced, recorded and mixed for Tom Redwood before the studio closed in 2019 although we seemed to always be stuck in 1972. Tom Redwood - The Glue tomredwood.bandcamp.com/album/the-glueNo sequencers, midi, pristine samples (or any samples) or gridding just organic mostly live takes with few overdubs. Some amp noise and even a Lo-Fi vocal on one track which I hated at the time but have come to actually like. Recorded, overdubbed and mixed over 10 days OTB/Hybrid via a console and outboard hardware. A few warts here and there but they kind of grow on you!

kcatthedog just had a play of Surrender because I liked the title. Really nice songwriting, and I am into those shimmery bright guitar sounds. What were you using as the main guitar rig? I don't know why but it kind of gives me this '80s UK kind of feeling, even a hint of My Bloody Valentine in there, really nice album. About to have a listen of Tom Redwood. Thanks for posting.

The Glue sounds great. My favorite part is the clever, layered arrangements, and the lyrics on tracks 1-3. Has that elusive, well recorded, well mastered sound quality, so the title is appropriate. It's nice to have new music to listen to this morning. Don't mean to bombard the thread, I'm just enjoying these.

I will be following this closely. My collaborators and I have a catalog of songs that we are slowly bringing to a more finished and polished end. At the moment we have 8 songs that are going to comprise the first “release”. This may very well be the way to go.

Thx: I try! 2 main guitars: electric is a nice Korean strat, blonde and just plays and sounds like a classic early strat to me. Egnator amp, 1 egnator 12 and another forget which brand. Often have a little ocd pedal on the strat, just gives a little cut in the mix? Wa273eq pre, typically just hpf on and flat, a variety of mikes: 57, wa87, wa47, wa412, I mostly mismatch them and record in stereo so get some width right there. I have comps but often record guitar with no comps as I like to capture the natural dynamic, that was recorded with my symphony mkii and remixed on my Apollo x6 with mostly ua and fab filter plugs. Thx for listening and, if you met her, bet you’d surrender too !

Monkeyxx, your “half-staff band” comment reminded me of this song from my old band:
I love Dischord, Fugazi was a huge inspiration to me growing up. Apparently they are on Spotify too, I thought they were hold outs.

notneeson great song, really catchy. Everyone's using electric guitar sounds that I really like. That cowbell is nicely placed, too. What was your role in the band? Big Fugazi fan here also, accidentally saw them live when I was in college and it was a changing moment. Also sort of appreciate their opinions about the music industry and economics, they took no part in whatever the big machine was, and made their own rules, while being as successful as they needed to be. Years later, I am a half-stack player as well, the sound I always chased was that one.

I'm playing lead guitar and singing some backups on the choruses. I saw Fugazi in San Francisco when I was in High School, and it was kind of a wild scene as they were basically playing in an enormous warehouse.

jamielang.bandcamp.comTo balance that I DO (obviously?) think it's the best solution for indie downloads....I HAVE had some people who had trouble with the checkout process. It's been a while since I bought something--but, it also knows me--I have an account (again obviously)---and these were always end users who don't regularly "use" Bandcamp and just wanted to buy the record I put up. Something about creating accounts....Paylpal being involved....

Something about creating accounts....Paylpal being involved.... First of all, great recordings. Well played, and the audio is perfectly recorded, hi fi, almost pristine or reference grade to my ear. The songs are satisfying, and take me back to the '90s and how things sounded then. I just checked the buy option on your album. Edit: but I have an account already too. It takes you straight to a simple page to enter a credit card number. If you click paypal it takes you straight to paypal. You don't have to use paypal, you can use a card also. It's straightforward and simple, even for online shopping. Sadly, I realize this is probably too complicated for some people, however I am not sure what to say about that. Some people don't know how to use computers, and some people just don't know how to shop online. Probably too complicated for my parents, for example. Maybe some people wouldn't know how to get music files on their phone. I guess I don't worry about it. A lot of these people simply don't listen to music, is what I've learned. Obvious, yes, that's what I now think too. I did consider options though, so there was some deliberation to land on bandcamp for me. If anything, I am late to the game, and am playing catch up to build my discography. One can get lost in the fun of making music and sometimes neglect the publishing side. I realize now that was a bit of an error. The transition from CDs to complete device based digital, and all the other cultural factors that went along with that, caught me a little off guard, I guess. It happened overnight, was the feeling.

Mine's in my signature. Not only here, but also in my emails. Been there for years, but, strangely, very few people notice it, it seems...

Blistering guitar work, Levon. Can't understand the words at all but it's fun to listen to other languages regardless.

drumsound listening to Brownie Points For Heaven this rainy morning. The closest way this makes me feel is something like Ariel Pink mixed with Of Montreal, lots of clever attitudes towards lyrics and the melodies within the music itself. I bet that's an incredibly fun band to be in. Really tasteful drumming. What I really want to ask is how many SM57s did you allow for this session. Or did someone sneak one past you, haha.

Another nice thing about BC, is that during pandemic it has 3-5 times waived its fees so 100% of funds go to artist.
They advertise this so you can get the word out!

Don't want to wear out my welcome by commenting every post, but I am indeed listening to everything, it's exciting. There's an RGO music festival happening inside my HD650. Really enjoyed Ever Tear A Hit, the shea.
