I checked and I had to ENABLE CURVE, it was disabled in your save, I believe.
When I did my little thing I just dragged the MIDI out into cubase, with no regard to settings, maybe that changed it. Maybe that turned the curve on by doing that, by just copying the midi without the SD3 settings in play.
It does sound different now that I've toggled the CC4 thing, and playing within SD3 instead of Cubase. It sounds more normal and straight ahead with the Curve turned off.
I kind of liked those funky bits, I guess I got used to them, not knowing how it was intended, haha.

My early favorite on the EQ was the SSL, it's really crisp and punchy. My current object of lust is the Massenburg, I really like it here too. Weiss is really natural sounding, and the Toneboosters is maybe a little too heavy for this particular source, which surprised me. Like you said, they all have a slightly different sound, or sonic signature.
