Do you have my correct address I’ll take care of it real nice 👍 You said Happy New Years right? Lol Looks like a vintage one but I couldn’t prob pick the difference aside from headbaskets visually or tubes ( maybe ) lol. Has anyone compared this mic to other versions/ builds or is this brand new? Looking forward to hearing more about it.

It's been a real fun ride so far, and a hard secret to keep! Thanks for having me on the consulting team! You all are great to chat with, as always.

Is there going to be a pre order special on this mic?

Post by tskguy on Dec 31, 2020 7:00:30 GMT -6
Hey all,
So we will be taking pre orders in a few weeks for delivery early 2021. And yes the first pre orders will be discounted from the final price. We will be sharing some sound clips along with more pics etc once we have the mic wrapped up from the sonics perspective. The Heiserman team is working very very hard along side the best sounding original 251's to get this better than perfect. Give us a few more weeks or so and we will announce pre orders! Here are a few pics of the internals.

Looks uh-maze-ing. Love it.
Question though, how do these swivel mounts work? I know they look rad as hell, but what about shock? Are shockmounts actually not needed with 251s for some reason? Is there some sort of internal shock mount or something?

Eric, that CK12 (HK12?) style capsule you made, that I sang/tried at NAMM, was incredible. (in the Vintage 414 body) Couldn't tell any difference, from the Vintage 414 Brass capsule microphone, right next to it! Chris

Just to be on the up and up, I deleted two of Tim’s posts. As a rule, I usually discourage competitors from posting about competing products...but Tim, I don’t have any problems with you posting - just without postulating about proprietary sourcing in a teaser thread.

I dislike shockmounts in general. I think it's like 80% aesthetic though. All the pics of my heroes tracking through 67s, 47s, etc with hardmounts are just too burned into my brain and I (apparently) care about those vibes too much. I also just don't like a big boxy cage taking up so much room and looking dumb. I've never had any issue with vibrations but I mostly just record myself. If I had all kinds of knuckleheads coming in stomping around and it was my job to get good takes I'd probably abandon my aesthetic tendencies in about 10 seconds.

Yeah I coveted that 67 conversion you did with that mount...
