I’m a Republican and I don’t believe any of these conspiracy theories about this having to do with the election. All the rumors are crazy. The question and danger of these conspiracy theories is what did / does the bomber believe? In trying to understand my own attacker, and his mental illness, I learned that god, the devil, aliens and secret government technologies are the most often rationalized sources of the voices in ones head ( did you know I was the devil? It was news to me). The thing is the more these conspiracies are given any weight in reality it’s more likely someone with severe mental illness will take them seriously and act dangerously. Hopefully this type of stuff doesn't give you flashbacks. Hope you're OK.

So why was the mayor laughing and making jokes about it?

So why was the mayor laughing and making jokes about it? From what I saw on the news, it looked like he was taking it pretty seriously without being over wrought or excessively righteous, as some politicians feel they have to be when on camera. Also, a comment about the building, Cerberus Capital, NSA, etc. From what I can see on news and Google Earth, that ATT facility looks like a typical big-city central switching station from back in the day when every POTS copper line in a large radius had to come in there. I’ll bet ATT inherited it from Bell South decades ago. NSA. has been inside every telecom since the early oughts, so no news there. Major operation? I doubt it. Probably just the usual hoovering up of every bit of data they can get their hands on. Law Enforcement raided a place in Antioch, TN this morning. I like the disgruntled employee theory, or, if you want a little more fizz, the heist theory. I’ll bet that building was hosting alarm companies from Memphis to Knoxville.

I worked for bellsouth for a little while back in the day. NSA was absolutely in there. They marched into one of the buildings that housed the interfaces for the offshore optical cables and took it over. It was a huge deal inside the company back when it happened. There's also two identical phone/data system backbones. One's for the public, the other is government only. The government can also take over the public system at any time. You needed security clearance to even look at the block diagram of the system. There was always the urban legend of the guy who was poking around the system and accidentally found a way in and was fired then visited by the G-men for interrogation.

Thanks Jesse, honestly the whole lock down of the last year & the 2 weeks in the hospital, then the month in the wheelchair have been a PTSD episode on steroids! I fought to damn hard to be able to go out and do as a I please! On a funny note, you wouldn’t believe how many of us who spent significant time in a coma have found everybody wearing a mask to be a weird reminder of our time coming out of the drugs.

I read on another audio forum about the music studio & tattoo parlor. Maybe I was confused since I don’t know the area.
As far as rumors, i stated what I read to see if others had insight, not that I believed it verbatim.
Also I was confused why an NSA sector focused on GA would be based in Nashville.

Not calling you out; just adding my observations. Agree that watching GA from Nashville telcos doesn’t make a lot of sense, as there are probably comparable facilities in Atlanta.

I see the FAA has shut down air traffic over NVille. What's going on?? Meanwhile, the media / enforcement seems to have only cautiously mentioned it "might" have been a bomb. . Even with videos saying "please evacuate" before the explosion. Can we even believe the media or our government at this point? This is the craziest story.... Well, along with the other 50-100 crazy stories going on right now. Still......

Heard there was a music studio or two + a famous tattoo parlor that got demolished on this street. Is this true? Does anyone know the studio owners? I’m not too familiar w/ Nashville but I do know they call the music areas “ Studio Row & Music Row “ . Was this area affected at all by this bombing? I am a very positive person 95% of the time but this has me wondering what’s next Def hoping there isnt any further aftermath. No. That’s not true. Lots of rumors flying around. This was on second avenue right in front of an ATT hub and if memory serves correctly, a spaghetti factory is right across the street. This most likely has something to do with ATT/communications. I read it was right across from the Melting Pot. One of the papers talked to the owner I believe. Hopefully this type of stuff doesn't give you flashbacks. Hope you're OK. Thanks Jesse, honestly the whole lock down of the last year & the 2 weeks in the hospital, then the month in the wheelchair have been a PTSD episode on steroids! There was always the urban legend of the guy who was poking around the system and accidentally found a way in and was fired then visited by the G-men for interrogation. I worked as a contractor on a couple of satellite phone systems in the late 1990’s. One was for the Australian military which included a digital encryption device for scrambling classified phone conversations over any unsecured landline connection. The unit along with a phone was fitted into a Samsonite briefcase and handcuffed to the users wrist while being transported. It enabled secure voice transmission over a landline with a second unit at the other end to decrypt the signal back into voice audio. Basically a modern day voice enigma machine with a touch of Mission Impossible and Get Smart throw in. While under development the encryption device was held inside a secure room and only a handful of people who had signed the ‘Official Secrets Act’ were allowed inside the room and no one could enter the room alone. Maybe they were worried about a ‘Falcon and the Snowman’ scenario.

An entire city block explodes and the cop doesn't drop a single f-bomb. Much more discipline than I would have had.

Wow on first watch that vid is crazy. On second watch That video, if not edited, the officers seem to expect it. Maybe they are well trained but they didn’t even flinch and half the block just got destroyed.
How did they know they weren’t too close to the explosion?
Had that bomb been any bigger half those officers could have faced serious life threatening injuries. Happy that was not the outcome.
