There's a psycho-acoustic effect that hearing our own voice has. Something about our ears and cranium hearing ourselves is unnatural. Therefore, we basically don't sound good to ourselves. it's the other way around for me: i LOVE the way my voice and singing sounds to me inside my head! haha! but than when i listen back to some live recordings of myself it's just terrible whining! haha! but the voice is for shure an "instrument" you can change, develop when you work with it.
