I'm a FOH engineer at a jazz/blues club in RI. Small room, but a pretty popular spot for blues. I get to mix some pretty cool acts, get paid to do it, eat some free Chinese food, and drink cheap drinks...and it usually wraps up by 11.
I figured I would start a thread to give some props to some of the acts that I work with.
Tonight I'm mixing for Samantha Fish. Up and coming blues act from KC.

I was having a chat with a FOH guy in my area, all the respect in the world for what you guys do. Being in a band and touring again has made me appreciate a quality live sound engineer even more. I couldn't do that job, it's too on the fly and mistakes are too costly.
I assume you're in the thick of it as I type. How do you get that act on stage?
BTW, Blue Oyster Cult's drummer Jules Radino [just had his 10 yr anniversary] used to play with Poppa Chubby. Six degrees. Especially in the NYC area.
The Nazo band has musicians and some monsters that just dance around and put on a show. When the band came out, there were 2 monsters that sort of ushered the drummer to the kit and got him in position. I guess his costume is 9 feet tall when he's playing. When he was walking to the stage, he was just below the ceiling fans in the room. Pretty wild. It sounds like they might be opening for P-Funk again in Providence in February. I'm going to try to get to the show if I can get the night off.
That's cool that you've got a former Chubby drummer playing with you guys. 6 degrees for sure. A lot of the cats that come through here either come through with a couple different groups or end up switching groups and coming with someone new down the line.
Let me know when you guys are touring up here again. I'll try to make it out.
Samantha Fish played again last night and is doing a second night tonight. I guess she's just starting to tour for her upcoming album. Pair of sold out shows at Chan's to kick things off. Check her out if she's coming through. Pretty rockin' blues. Fun stuff.
