You could try Jensen's modification, but I think this tends to correct toward clean rather than more character. www.jensen-transformers.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/as091.pdfQuick way to play is to load the output transformer with 600 ohms, just to see what happens. Take a mic cable and strap a 604R resistor across pins 2 and three, see if that gets you anything. Or put a 5k pot, twiddle till it sounds the way you like it, then disconnect and measure where the pot is and replace it with the nearest nominal resistor value. Or buy one of our Portia Street Stomps, and put it after it to fudge it up a bit

It's funny, because back when the LA2A came out, they were trying to make things as clean as possible with what they had available.. Now we demand that the same gear dirty things up!

I was always trying to get my WA-2a to be cleaner. It put quite a bit of hair on the signal.

I doubt any mods would be worth the trouble when you could just sell it and put the money towards an Audioscape Opto.
But if you wanted to do it you could probably put some vintage iron in for a few hundred dollars.

That would make the biggest difference, but then you'd have to reverse the process if you ever sold it.

Hows the Audioscape vs the Stam ?

Hows the Audioscape vs the Stam ? I’ve never used the Stam. I thought the tone of Warm unit was pretty good but the compression always seemed too slow and it was always compressing too much or not enough. The Audioscape unit has slightly more saturation when pushed but the biggest improvement for me was range out of the compression. It sound good with a lot of compression or just a little.

I'll give Revive the benefit of the doubt that their mods sound good, but in no way would I expect those types of mods to make the Warm sound like the original.

The main mod I can see to any Warm gear would be upgrading the pots and switches, not sexy but one place where you see the compromise.
