Love LOVE the parallel on the Serpent. Love it. Did I say I love it? Love the AS GSSL too. But for comps, if they have wet/dry, that REALLY, REALLY makes my hybrid approach better. Extra bonus points for any comp or EQ with Wet/Dry blend. Also, for transformer vibe, I'll often follow either my AS or Serpent with a pair of MrFocus's. API or Neve Line Cards / Xfmr's or both. With the ability to drive them harder - or not - and then blend in. Fantastic. For me, way better than just having a transformer balanced output. Don't need me no steenkin' transformer outs on my SSL's... Who needs wet / dry blend? That’s one of the things that big old D&R was for.😁 Ha!! Yeah. But I can get better summing ITB. And I'm serious. I need to do the "blending" in the analog world though before coming back in. And without the 120 input wet / dry automated blending device (D&R), I do appreciate outboard with parallel processing!!!

My WA BUS comp showed up today, impressed with finish, fit and feel, very solid.
Was quickly running it in a working mix, found it clean with a nice sheen and the transformer option adds a good weight and presence.
The extra settings (ratio, hpf, etc.) adds to the unit’s utility.
Ran it on 2 bus (duh) and drum bus, liked it in both: for me, it’s a keeper.

kcatthedogAwesome. Kind of an odd usage scenario, but have you tried it on vocals? I've been finding lately that I really like the NI Solid Bus Comp on vocals. It's made me kind of curious to try a HW SSL clone for the same purpose.

No haven’t yet but I think it could be interesting with the increased variety in the settings.

Could give radial a run for there money Not bloody likely. Radial owns Jensen these days. That kind of expertise with transformers is very hard to come by.

On the right next to the voltage regulators there are two 7 transistor discrete op amps. Not socketed, just built into the board. That's a bit of a turnoff.

Well a socket could likely be be sistered in, if really important to be able to easily switch op amps?
They have sockets in the TB ?

I’ve never had a good experience with Warm and didn’t keep any of their boxes. They all had poor build quality qc, poor power supplies, and high noise floors. Typical Chi-fi. Audioscape I’ve never used but it’s made in the USA so it can’t be worse unless it blows up or melts. You can’t easily get those knockoff Chinese parts here and American manufacturers never cheap out on the power supplies as much as Made in China budget gear does hahaha.

Curious how you went about testing the psus ? Warm’s have a lot of key name brand parts as well.

Well, I am two weeks into using the wa bus comp and I have the AudioScape, both are definitely keepers and compliment each other. No concerns about quality: sound or build: feel is rock solid.
