Those look like great products. I’m kinda pissed off that Warm is going to bring SSL compression to the “uneducated masses” I guess it won’t be a “secret weapon” anymore...

I'm wondering if the transformers will give it a sound similar to the thing that Dangerous Music does on their 2 bus +

Pricepoint wise, it's in direct competition with the Audio-Scape buss compressor.

The compressor is less than what I paid for a used Serpent SB4001 and it has switchable transformers.

The dangerous has Canadian made Hammond transformers which weren’t used in the original ssl. Bryce told me that David at Cinemag did his usual meticulous job specking, designing and testing the transformers for the Warm buss comp, bet it will sound very smooth. I think the Warm is priced $100 below the Audioscape ? I will be directly comparing them. I expect the Audioscape to sound a little voluptuous , as Chris goes to so much trouble spec’ing his parts and even finding special no’s stuff like in his 76 comp. NIce to have such great choices. Just checked Audioscape price dropped from $799 to $699!

Just checked Audioscape price dropped from $799 to $699! If you're in the US, buy American (Audioscape) and help save the degradation of our country. (See other thread). If you're in Canada...well...do as you see fit.

I already have the Audioscape and think it’s great! Am curious to hear the differences and to consider how I could use those differences in a mix!

Agreed, but proof will be in the sonic pudding !?
I think Warm just constantly strives to improve its products. From time to time peops reference QC issues which I find perplexing in the sense that products are manufactured using normal QC methods so I wonder if Warm is really very much different that other similarly manufactured gear.
I have had a variety of Warm gear had issues with only two, weird metre in a Wa76 and a bad tube in a wa47. The tube I don’t tbink Warm’s fault as they didn’t manufacture it?
Am really looking forward to running the wa sum comp through its paces.

I would be curious to compare this to my Serpent compressor. I was really interested in the idea of an SSL comp with transformers after seeing so many good reviews of the Dramastic Obsidian.

I’ll let you know when I have it if you want to send me a file? I guess we could get a comparison thread going. I’m sure we could also find some participants with Audioscape, TK, etc

The compressor is less than what I paid for a used Serpent SB4001 and it has switchable transformers. I got my sb4001 for 680 shipped. But this will likely sell for 600 or 550. The serpent has more options too and parallel. So still likely more useful. Transformer option is cool but not original. There's the mod board out there for it. Plus Stam does it with API and Neve circuit. Not that you can get one.. Pretty cheap! Be worth trying for a second or third vca for a dedicated drum buss. I have three already. Not sure I'll need a 4th

My Audioscape won’t be going anywhere, but exactly, would love to try this elsewhere.
I sold my stam mki to free uo some dough and am very interested in the Warm and Stam mkii with the british mod Sowter transformers.

I sold my stam mki to free uo some dough and am very interested in the Warm and Stam mkii with the british mod Sowter transformers. Id assume they went for the API stage in the Warm judging by the Cinemag transformers. But in the photo with the lid off, I do not see a 2520 style discrete opamp that they are claiming.. But I could be blind. is a small photo. If it is an API style output then be a good one for drums. Sadly not build in parallel which would have been great for crushing drums with and blending back in.

On the right next to the voltage regulators there are two 7 transistor discrete op amps. Not socketed, just built into the board.

Hahaha, thanks for props (and everyone else!). *EDIT* - for the record, our BUSS COMP has been $699 for the longest time now ;-) - and yes, it is handcrafted from end to end on-site here in the USA (Florida) with meticulous parts selection, etc. just as all of our other products are. Even though our product names are somewhat intentionally generic - the only thing we foresee is some confusion as to which "BUSS COMP" someone may be referring to in conversation Lucky for us, we use the "2 s" spelling of "BUSS". Rock on, much love and success to all - HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I am only concerned that some wacko here, seems to think there is something wrong with having more than 3 ssl clones, takes all kinds !!

Love it. Did I say I love it? Love the AS GSSL too. But for comps, if they have wet/dry, that REALLY, REALLY makes my hybrid approach better. Extra bonus points for any comp or EQ with Wet/Dry blend. Also, for transformer vibe, I'll often follow either my AS or Serpent with a pair of MrFocus's. API or Neve Line Cards / Xfmr's or both. With the ability to drive them harder - or not - and then blend in. Fantastic. For me, way better than just having a transformer balanced output. Don't need me no steenkin' transformer outs on my SSL's...
