Hey all,
I'm hoping for some opinions and insight into the CAPI FC526-xfmr compressor. I haven't been able to find too much out there on it (at least not, this transformer edition).
I bought a Stam 76ADG and had high hopes for it but it ended up being a disappointment for me, so I'm likely going to sell it. I spent a lot of time fighting the noise floor and couldn't figure out a way to gain stage it to where it wasn't kicking in way too early. So it was more frustration than joy over here.
I'm looking for a compressor that can fill that role and after looking at potential other 1176 options, or even a Distressor, I'm intrigured by the CAPI. I'm looking for something that will be able to grab fast transients on dynamic vocal performances and other "peaky" tracks, which I can then follow up with another smoother compressor if needed.
Thanks for your insights! Shaun

I had the pre-xfmr version and it was great. It could be super fast and do just what you're asking. I've heard the xfmr version and I think it was extremely similar with maybe just a little more coloration.
