Does anybody have a reliable source for affordable Sony MDR-7506 earpad replacements? In Europe, a pair of replacement pads costs half as much as a pair of headphones!
I've tried my luck with eBay and Aliexpress. The replacements are decent (and incredibly cheap) but invariably smaller in diameter, which makes them quite uncomfortable.

If you lived in Australia I have 4 sets of MDR-7506’s that are all blown and you could have the ear pads.
I replaced them with Beyer DT-770 PRO’s.
Far better headphones IMO.
More comfortable, not as overbearingly bright, better low end and able to handle high SPL (especially heavy bass) without breaking up and failing.

IME, I've never been able to get them loud enough to blow up. Too painful....

I think I’d swap out at least 4 blown drivers in those sony’s Every week. I don’t know if it was drummers with loud click tracks or heavy guitars going but those drivers blew super easy. The old school fostex lasted way longer. Still sounded awful though.

Bass players and drummers who want more kick is typically what kills the drivers. It appears the diaphragms suffer from mechanical failure.

Wild. I've wrecked more AKG K240's than I can count, but my single 7506 is still holding strong - not that I ever want to use it.

I've been replacing with Beyerdynamic 942.704. Full Compass at least they were about $24/pair. Don't disintegrate like the Sony.

Thanks! A bit pricey after shipping to Spain. One good thing about them, some people complain about them being slightly larger than the originals, which would be a good thing in my book.

I had considered that, but read some reports about how they increase mechanical noise due to cable vibration and increase the bass (which might not be a bad thing). What's your experience with this?

If there's a bass boost, it's not been a bad thing. Can't say I've heard of any mechanical noise either. The only concern I've had is the cleanliness of the velveteen in the long term.

I will likely order a pair for myself and they have a 20% off if you order 2 pairs. PM is you’d like me to order you a pair and ship them to you ?

I've used these. They work fine. It is a bit tricky getting them on, even though they are slightly larger. I like EMRR's solution and would try that if I ever need to replace the cushions again. My first pair lasted over 10 years. I went from the Sonys, to Beyer, to Sennheiser 600s, which I really like.

Thank you all, I'm going to try the Beyerdynamic, and keep trying my luck with Aliexpress. They go as low as $1!
