Time for more tape.
I am glad to see an honest to goodness A-80 multitrack plug now. The Ampex 440 is very cool, as well as the MCI machine.
Trying these now and think they sound fantastic. Yea I know, it isn't the real thing and everyone will poo poo. It just sounds good.
I dig it. 4 formulas. Very useful, not quite but almost as tweakable as the UAD Studer. Sounds as good, too. IMO.

In case anybody missed the intro pricing on this IK is running a group buy right now, currently up to 6 for the price of 1. You can get 1 module for $99, get the other 3 and 2 more for free.

That makes a positive difference. Even on my phone. I need to check this thing out.

I’ve have them all and there really good but, they are cpu hogs. You might demo first just to see how your computer handles the load. JMO

When I first bought them I had a 2012 Mac mini i7 16g ram running PT 12.8 I could only run a couple instances of IK tape . Now I have a new 2018 i7 16 g ram and haven’t had any problems running several instances.

That sounds like two instances versus three.

Two instances on the 2012 Mac , but the 2018 Mac so far all I’ve tried was four instances no problems . The four on the new Mac was also with several Aqua plugins running also, which are cpu hogs also. Haven’t had the new machine long enough to really see what it can handle , but so far it seems to be a beast.

I bounce each track through an instance then remove it so I have an original and tape version in each playlist. I usually just have one instance running to monitor the master before or after "tape."

Wow....now I want to demo it just to see how my Coffee lake i7 does!
I'd point out tape emulation is one outhouse things that Cubase's Direct Offline processing is supposed to be for....where you can always open it up and remove it from the offline history--anyway, I mention it because I think it's sort of not a terribly useful thing that they have this whole infrastructure for handling....and THIS is like "the" only real world use for it I could ever come up with for it....

I bought these shortly after demoing. There are the new bar for tape plugins. Well worth the CPU hit. I wish more companies would make plugins focused on quality rather than CPU efficiency like this.

I'm probably going to pick up some or all of these in the current group buy. What are your favorites in the tape machine collection, and are there any of the machines you don't like?
Also, you can get Fender Amp Collection 2 (it's great) for 64.50 right now, which puts you in the $129 dollar tier and allows you to get 6 plugins of equal or lesser value. Thanks Craig

No machines that I don't like really. I don't really use the Revox much because I want the sound of the classic big machines. It still sounds good, though. My favorite might be the MCI JH24, though. The Ampex and Studer are great, too.

The group buy offer is really good. I’m still not sure if I should change something that works for me (Slate’s VTM) to chase the proverbial greener grass...

I doubt that Slate VTM is great.
I just used it on a mix ITB on the 2 BUS and it made things sounding wrong. If this is the glory of TAPE DAYS - No thanks.
I see Slates VTM as a sort of distortion box... sometimes it helps, sometimes it hurts....

I purchased the Fender Collection 2, SVX 2, the Leslie emulation, and all 4 tape machines. The tape machine sound pretty fantastic. The other tape sims I've tried have replicated some of the harmonics and EQ changes that tape imparts, but the IK versions are the first that I've noticed the increase in depth to the mix. When engage them, it feels like I can reach into the source.

I purchased Fender Collection 2 last night so that I can then get in in the group buy.
I don't see the Fender Collection in my account though. Do I have to authorize the Fender Collection first or something before it will show up in my account?
Once it manages to show up in my account, will I then automatically be able to purchase additional plugins through the group buy page, or is there more to all of this?
Sorry, I'm an IK newb.

I can’t argue with my own results here. I’ve never got it to distort and I wouldn’t think of mixing without it!

You should have been sent a serial # by email. Enter that in the IK Authorization manager, and you should see it then.
